About as much creativity as I can muster on a Friday after an insane week. On the staging side, it included moving two small warehouses into one larger space, de staging two houses, staging two more. And on the interior design side there were meetings with clients, trades and architects around four separate projects including a huge outdoor social space, a kitchen/utility/boot room conversion in an 18th century home, bespoke joinery for a whole house project and the final elements of a bedroom/living room project. I have taken to my bed and shall not move until Sunday

I may be small... but this is huge!

Today I officially got the keys to my first commercial warehouse. Physically, it’s huge. Metaphorically, it feels even bigger.
For a small business owner, taking on your first proper commercial space is a pretty big step. It’s exciting, terrifying and a lot of “are we really doing this?”
But it’s also a really lovely reminder of how far Rebel has come.
What started as a small idea has grown into a business that now needs a much bigger space to store furniture, lighting, artwork, accessories and all the things that make our projects what they are.
And I have big plans for this space.
So here’s to taking up a little more room as Rebel just got a whole lot bigger.
And yes... I may need a forklift.

Why are office chairs so often... ugly?

We spend so much time thinking about the desk, the lighting, the artwork and the colour of the room
-and then plonk a giant mesh swivel chair in the middle of it all that resembles a dalek.

I’m not saying you need to sacrifice comfort for style. But there are now so many beautiful options that actually look like they belong in a home.

If your home office is part of your living space, I think the chair should feel like part of the interior rather than a piece of office equipment that’s been wheeled in from an office block.

Think upholstery, interesting shapes, vintage pieces, dining chairs paired with the right ergonomic setup - anything that feels considered rather than corporate.

Because working from home doesn’t mean your room has to look like work.

This may sound like an outlandish statement because white paint should surely be simple? Except it’s not. With hundreds of whites to choose from, the undertone, light and everything around can completely change how a white looks.
Get it right and itfeels effortless. Get it wrong and everything just feels a bit off. Tricky to put your finger on exactly what it is but you’ll know. A little bit like choosing a husband.

The best bit about my job? I get to shop for beautiful interiors pieces. And my absolute favourite is shopping for antique and vintage.
There’s something about antiques that you just can’t replicate with something brand new.

They bring character, history and a sense that a room has evolved over time. I love mixing them with contemporary pieces because it stops an interior feeling too polished or like it’s been bought straight from a showroom.

And often, the slightly wonky, imperfect, beautifully worn pieces are the ones that make a room feel really special.

For me, the best interiors aren’t about everything matching. They’re about finding the right mix.

Spending time on the Amalfi coast and instead of doing the classic holiday photo dump, I thought I’d make it more interiors related. Because spending days walking around this stunning part of Italy (to be fair where isn’t stunning in this country?) you can really see how the interiors of today are still so heavily influenced by those a couple of millennia ago. From fluted walls to checkerboard flooring it’s fascinating too see how the influence of the Roman Empire, and that of other early civilisations, permeates almost every aspect of today’s interior design. Though one caveat; the extensive use of ‘manhood’ as seen in the end picture luckily has taken off 😜

This new build house sold to the first person who walked through the door. The staging made such an impact they asked to buy everything. Quality home staging works because it creates an emotional connection. And ok the sofa didn’t really cost £1.6m but that’s the result it got!
