Up there with the coolest of things I’ve had in for framing I’d say. 🔥

This painting has been built up over years. Heavily impasto’d and at approximately 50x70cm this thing weighed in at the size of a small Koi Carp. So float mounting it was interesting!

Framing was gallery white, clean and minimal. Let the painting do it’s dance 💃 Artglass to minimise any pesky reflection.

⚽️🌍🏆 With the Football World Cup kicking off yesterday, I obviously had to wheel out this beauty again. The intersection of football, drinking culture and design is upon us again, and that’s exactly where these discarded cigarette packet works by .fitzmaurice strike 🔥. I chose my starting eleven, handpainted this green suede mountboard and framed them up because, why not?

I’m absolutely buzzing that the biggest sporting event on the calendar has landed, are you?! Perhaps the more pressing question is, is it coming home? The floor is open..

Fabric can be a really nice way to bring in texture, colour and something individual into a framing job. It can be used to line the inside of box frames or wrap slips or spacers in. It’s not something that many framers offer or know how to do, but it can really elevate something and bring a touch of luxury or a personal touch. Have you got a fabric that is special to you that you’d like including in a framing job? Get in touch.

I hand wrapped the blue linen over the inner bevelled profile for this job, which proved tricky as the fabric was fairly stiff! Managed it though, and the result was worth it. The canvas came in raw too, so it’s been stretched over stretcher bars. The outer frame is a ‘denim’ real wood veneer.

I had the absolute joy of framing some paintings for for his upcoming solo show . Two of them were these hand painted frames above. Rob chose the profile. Tulip, with a very steep bevel which echoes nicely the radical perspectives in this body of work. Otherwise he gave me a loose brief but essential I choose the colours, paints and application myself. These are my favourite kinds of jobs, where bee trusted by the client to have free rein to do my job with freedom and creativity. We were both really happy with how these turned out. If you’re in the area, be sure to go and check out this epic show. It’s set across 3 floors of a Georgian townhouse. A stunning looking gallery and it’s poised to host an equally stunning body of work. Robs talent is plain to see. Working all of these paintings in situ, he has an incredible eye and palette and to fix a moment in time when the elements and light are continually shifting is a skill to behold. To do it all in his own unique voice is something else. It was a pleasure to frame your work Rob! Good luck with your final preparations.

💸It’s 1st - 7th June! What does this mean I hear you say?! Well it’s a rallying cry from people like me (small fry, self employed), to people like you to get out and support local business owners and craftspeople. Put money into the pockets of people in the heart of your communities. It matters. Being self employed is tough. Often, for the amount of love and care I put into my work it can still feel as though I’m really up against it. I know that times are hard. I’d be out spending more of my money with local businesses if I had more to go round. That’s why if you make a booking for an appointment this week (the appointment doesn’t have to be this week) I’m offering 5% off all bespoke framing. Perhaps 5% may not sound like much to you, but that 5% is a much bigger percentage off what ends up in my bank account. It’s the only time of the year I will lower my prices, so don’t miss out!
I provide a service that no one else offers. There may be other picture framers out there, but no one does it the way I do. I can offer suggestions and finishes that you simply will not find anywhere else. Come and get some framing done with someone who really knows and loves their craft and experience why I do what I do.
