LG Collectables will be exhibiting this weekend, 25th and 26th of October at the Stoneleigh Celebration of Antiques in Warwickshire
As usual, I will be selling an excellent range of Denby Danesbyware from the 1930s together with some hard to find pieces from the 1950s including Cheviot and Tibor Reich.

New arrival to my stock is a very rare Denby majolica elephant money box.
These were manufactured in the first quarter of the 20th century along side the Horace Elliott pig money boxes.
The sitting pig versions come up from time to time but the rarer standing pigs are now hard to find particularly in good condition. Now we come to the elephant, the last time one of these came up on eBay must have been 10 years ago from memory and it made £300.
Condition of these items is important as they didn’t have a stopper so the only way to get the money out was to insert a knife into the slot and shake, hoping that the coins would slide down the blade. Enevatably, damage was common which added to the low survival rate.
Now we come to dating, as stated, they were manufactured in the early 20th century but it is not uncommon to find an inscription with a later date. This is because all majolica versions when inscribed were done post-production. So here we have another condition issue, with cleaning over the years parts of the inscriptions can easily be rubbed off.

So, here we have my example. It is in excellent undamaged condition with no deterioration to the inscription.

The photograph shows just a part of this collection, I understand that there is much more to follow. I have a small selection with me today at the Brighton Racecourse fair and will be able to take more at the IACF event at Stoneleigh on 25th and 26th of October

On both occasions I was pleasantly surprised at the interest in Denby studio pottery from the 1930s which in my speciality. Also today, I have a small range of English and continental Majolica

I recently sold at the Brighton Racecource antiques fair organised by Lovefairs
As my first visit to this event, I was pleasantly surprised by the interest shown in my stock and a looking forward to retuning on Sunday 13th October.

As from my other fairs, I will be offering a wide range of Denby Collectables mainly from the 1939s through to the 1960s and ranging from £10 to £950 so a very good range.mm

Coming up this weekend,1st and 2nd of July is the Derby Conference Centre Antiques Fair. I will be attending as usual with an excellent display of Denby Danesby Ware art pottery mainly from the 1930s
In addition, the stars of my stall will be a small selection of rare and iconic Cheviot and Tiber Reich pieces from the late 1950
Also, moving away from Denby, I have just aquired a Bretby jardiniere stand with the base formed from a splendid frog
Looking forward to meeting old and new Denby collectors at Derby
