I recently spent a lovely couple of hours making this mosaic paving block with the fantastic Billigoat Designs 😍

I’ve not done much mosaic before, but it’s a really fun technique and the grouting is really satisfying. Feeling inspired to do much more mosaic work and have already started sketching some patterns and saving my opaque offcuts in preparation!

I was lucky enough to attend not one, but two weddings last week! Here’s a gift I made for one of the happy couples. The bride actually asked to make a daffodil months ago and never got round to it, so I’m happy to have finally done it in time for their wedding. I bought the pattern, but added some wire detail for the stamen. I really like the hexagon shape!

Last weekend I had a great time teaching a brand new workshop Martin McAssey Glass where students made plant stakes!

They made some fantastic pieces and were a pleasure to teach, and it’s always so nice to see people learn something from scratch and be proud of what they have made. It’s very satisfying ☺️

This workshop is running again on Saturday 12 September and there are still a couple of places available if you’d like to come along - you can now book online on Martin’s shiny new website too! (https://martinmcassey.co.uk/)

For the last 6 months I've been working on a huge project. These two obelisks were a commission for a garden. I was given the pyramid frames and made eight (8!) panels of two designs to slot into the frame. I must admit, I had some scepticism about the concept, and after doing the first two panels, I was really regretting my choices, especially with the flower panel which was a nightmare to lead, and I had to make 4 of them 🤦🏻‍♀️

But after HOURS and HOURS of work, and HOURS of cementing, cleaning and polishing, they're finally done and in pride of place in their new home. 💚

I'm really chuffed with how they came out, but I won't be rushing to make any more of these!

Despite all the effort, I do think it was worth it, and I think they look fab amongst all the greenery and goregous flowers in the garden.

If you're interested in a project like this for your garden, do get in touch, but give me a bit of a rest first!

This is one of my favourite ever commissions - a heron!

I've had this pattern for a while and intended to make it for myself but never got round to it. Then I was asked if I could do a heron for a wedding gift, and here it is!

I'm very pleased with the glass choices, and the wonderful grain in the grey glass had a great feathery appearance.

I'm really rather taken with it and was a bit sad to wrap it up and send it on its way, but I will be making another for myself when I have the chance 😁

I recently did a 6 week pottery course at The Art House Sheffield, and today I went to collect my makes! I'm so pleased with what I made - I was pretty terrible at throwing for the first couple of weeks but then something clicked a bit and I managed to make some stuff that is actually has an identifiable shape and function 😁

I wasn't sure what to do with these two little pots, but I think they're perfect for my glass cacti! They will sit with pride on my kitchen windowsill ❤️🌵
