As the UK braces for another heatwave this weekend, hereās how to help combat the rising temperatures:
1. Keep your windows closed during the day
Counterintuitive, yes; but you donāt want to add warm air. UK homes are built to trap heat- keep it out. You can open the windows in the evening when itās cooler
2 Keep your blinds and curtains closed during the day
Even with the windows closed, glazing magnifies the heat from the sun, which can warm your home up quickly. Make sure to cover windows during the day to protect from direct sunlight
3. Avoid generating more heat
Sounds obvious, but itās easily done in this day and age. Make sure your central heating is turned off. You can also turn off/ unplug appliances and electronics when theyāre not in use, as well as avoid having too many lights on.
Consider cooking at cooler times of the day, or choose meals that donāt require the use of an oven or hob that create additional heat.
