A little something different from The Black Thistle 🌿

A few weeks ago, I swapped the shop for a rather beautiful wedding venue and had the absolute pleasure of filling it with plants.

The brief was to bring the outside in, creating lush, abundant greenery throughout the space without losing the wonderfully rustic character of the venue.

The centrepiece was a series of suspended botanical installations, overflowing with ferns, trailing ivy, pothos and Spanish moss, alongside larger statement plants and pockets of greenery throughout the venue.

It was my first time taking The Black Thistle into the world of wedding styling, and certainly one of the biggest installations I’ve tackled so far. There were ladders, an extraordinary amount of greenery, some fairly ambitious rigging and a few moments where I questioned my life choices 😂

But seeing it all come together made it rather worth it.

A huge thank you to Sarah for trusting me to bring a little Black Thistle magic to such a special day. 🖤🌿

Plant styling for weddings, events and spaces is something I’d love to do more of, so if you’ve got an idea that could use an unreasonable amount of greenery, I’d love to hear about it.

The texture of a leaf. The pattern of a vein. The way the light catches new growth.

If you’re wandering around the Shepton Sunday Market today, take a little detour up to 21 High Street and come and explore the quieter side of the botanical world.

The shop is full of beautiful foliage, thoughtful gifts, and is open too.

No experience is needed - all materials are provided, just bring your curiosity and enjoy a couple of peaceful hours of creativity.
