Gorgeous studies of 💙🤍 blue & white pottery combined with juicy 🧡 apricots 🍑 in the first week back of this last half of the summer term! A real workout in watercolour practising layering, translucency and 3D form. Stunning outcomes from all three of my weekly classes. My next Saturday intensive one day workshop is coming up at the end of June - Sat 27th 10-4pm at the Trinity Centre in Meole Brace, Shrewsbury. The theme is obviously sunsets! 🌅 of course we’ll be using full on 💯 % colours! 🩷❤️🧡💛💜💙🩵 - you will produce a gorgeous A3 sized painting on cradled birch panel learning about opacity, laying, gestural mark making and create a wonderful vibrant memory of your favourite spot! We had a lovely session Shrewsbury Museum and Art Gallery on Friday looking at a collection of objects themed by Darwin’s explorations on the origins of species and evolution. Skulls, fossils, shells, specimens, and the paraphernalia of collection. Sticking with a Victorian theme we made our own goose quills and used sepia ink and dip pens on handmade paper to create accurately and delicately observed studies. Every member of the group produced multiple gorgeous outcomes - have a look!

We had another lovely afternoon at Attingham Park NT yesterday for watercolours en Plein air. A lot more atmospherics with cloud movement, warm sunshine and even a spot of light rain at 3pm - nothing we couldn’t handle with our trusty gazebo! We practised mixing greens using multiple different colour bases to make naturalistic greens for the spring foliage and a range of purple/greys for the cloud forms.

Great outcomes from all the group - including some who had never used watercolour or painted Plein air before!
