đź’›Interior design. Your wayđź’›

Not everyone needs an interior designer to take over their entire project.

Some people love sourcing furniture, hunting for antiques and putting a room together themselves. They just need a little help getting the vision right.

Others would quite happily hand over the decisions, ordering and endless emails to suppliers.

And that's exactly why I offer different levels of design support.

**The Mini Design Package**

For those who enjoy doing the legwork but need a clear direction.

I'll put together a considered design scheme, with colours, fabrics, furniture suggestions and a tailored shopping list. You get the ideas, guidance and confidence to bring it all together at your own pace.

**The Full Design Service**

For those who'd rather have a little more taken off their plate.

Alongside the design scheme, I can help with sourcing, ordering, coordinating suppliers and installers, and those all-important finishing touches.

Same thoughtful approach. Just a different level of involvement.

Because good interior design shouldn't be an all-or-nothing service.

Whether you're refreshing one room or tackling an entire house, there's usually a way to make it work.

**Not every project needs the full works.**

So, which sounds more like you? A design plan you can run with, or someone to help make it all happen?

And if you've got a project in mind, big or small, my inbox is always openđź’›

STUDIO NOTES | A design proposal is where the wish list meets real life.

After an initial client meeting, I usually come away with pages of notes: what isn’t working, what needs to change, the pieces they already love, practical priorities and all the ideas they’ve been quietly collecting.

My next job is to turn those conversations into something clear and manageable.

That means separating the must-haves from the nice-to-haves, defining which rooms and decisions need support, and working out the most useful way for me to be involved.

The proposal then sets out the scope, what’s included, the design process and the fee so everyone understands exactly what we’re working towards before the creative work begins.

It’s not the most glamorous part of interior design, but a thoughtful proposal gives the project strong foundations and helps avoid confusion further down the line.

Would you find it helpful to see more of how a design project begins?đź’›

Before you replace it, ask whether it could become something better.

We've become rather good at throwing things out when they no longer suit our homes.

A chair in the wrong fabric. A piece of furniture that feels a little dated. Something that doesn't quite fit the look we're trying to achieve.

But what if we looked at what we already own a little differently?

Some of my favourite transformations haven't involved buying anything new.

A tired armchair given a completely different lease of life with beautiful fabric. Furniture moved between rooms and suddenly finding its place. Existing pieces mixed with a few carefully chosen additions.

And sometimes, all it takes is a fresh pair of eyes.

I'm a big believer that good interior design doesn't have to mean starting from scratch.

There's something rather lovely about keeping pieces with a bit of history, working with what you have and creating a home that feels collected rather than bought in one afternoon.

It's often kinder to the planet, sometimes kinder to the budget, and almost always more interesting.

Because not everything old needs replacing. Sometimes it just needs reimagining.

So, would you recover it or replace it?đź’›

DESIGNER NOTES ✏️

Not everything you love has to match.

And quite frankly, I think that's a good thing.

When designing this cottage bathroom, I didn't want everything to feel brand new, perfectly coordinated or straight out of a showroom.

The antique shelf was a Facebook Marketplace find. The mirror came from Etsy. Neither was part of a matching bathroom collection, and that's exactly why I love them.

Mixed with the checkerboard tiles, polished nickel fittings and a few more contemporary details, they've helped create a bathroom that feels collected rather than simply installed.

Because good interior design isn't always about starting from scratch.

It's about seeing the potential in existing pieces, mixing old with new and finding ways to make things work together without losing their individuality.

Sometimes it's the slightly unexpected pieces that give a room its personality.

And I'd much rather have a home full of character than one where everything matches perfectly.

What's the one thing in your home you'd never part with? đź’›

Sunday Slow Down đź’›

A week of new enquiries, promising conversations, freelance work and far too many boot-room decisions.

ABD is beginning to feel as though it’s finding its feet and I’m learning to enjoy the momentum without trying to race ahead.

A slower Sunday before we go again.

Your 2027 renovation probably needs to start before 2027.

It might feel early, but thoughtful interiors take time especially when they involve layouts, lighting, bespoke pieces, trades, lead times and approximately 347 decisions about things you hadn’t realised needed deciding.

I’m currently taking enquiries for new interior design projects in Somerset, across the South West and beyond.

That might look like:

• A full renovation or larger furnishing project
• Help bringing an individual room together
• A colour consultation when the sample pots have taken over
• Sourcing furniture, fabrics, lighting and those finishing pieces that make a home feel personal

My approach is considered, characterful and never led by what happens to be trending this week. I love working with period properties, natural materials, antiques and pieces that already have a story.

If you’re planning a project for late 2026 or early 2027, now is a very good time to start the conversation.

Send me a message or enquire through the link in my bio-I’d love to hear what you’re planning.

STUDIO NOTES | Designing rooms is only half the job. The other half is knowing who can help bring them to life.

Behind the finished spaces are supplier visits, fabric samples, conversations with makers and plenty of time spent building relationships with people who really understand their craft.

Recently, that has meant exploring Watchet, discovering new local suppliers, sourcing lots of lovely fabrics and making connections that will help another blonde designer grow.

It might not be the most polished part of running a studio, but it’s one of the most important. The right makers and suppliers can turn an idea on paper into something beautifully made and hopefully introduce a few details you won’t find everywhere else.

Would you like to see more of the makers and suppliers I discover along the way?đź’›

Sunday Slow Down đź’›

This week, I finally feel as though I’ve found a rhythm with my working days although I’m sure that rhythm will continue to change as ABD grows.

There was a little field trip to explore Watchet and visit East Quay, followed by a tour of The Collar Factory in Taunton as a possible office and meeting space.

Add in lots of lovely fabric sourcing and conversations with some brilliant new suppliers, and it’s been a week full of ideas, new connections and exciting possibilities.

Slowly finding my feet and enjoying seeing where it all might lead.
