I did say it was only a slight pin-collecting problem…

Vix has mentioned my pin collection a few times on Sewing Street recently, after spotting all my Sewing Street and Hobbymaker pins on my lanyard when we were chatting at Festival of Quilts. I’m not entirely sure she realised quite what she’d uncovered!

I’ve been collecting pins and badges since I was in nursery, which means I’ve now been doing this for about 45 years! 😳

One of my very first was the Green Cross Code Man, and amazingly he’s still here! If you look closely, you can spot him amongst the chaos in the box. Since then, I’ve picked up pins pretty much everywhere I go. Countries, museums, theatres, concerts, days out. They’re like tiny little souvenirs of places I’ve been and things I’ve loved.

I’m also given lots by friends and family. They’ll spot something while they’re out and think, “That’s Joey!” which makes those ones even more special.

I haven’t counted them for a long time, but I reckon there must be around 1,000 now. Some live in boxes, while others are displayed around my craft room on cork boards, fabric boards and embroidery hoops. There are little collections within the collection too. Winnie the Pooh, Disney, books, crafty pins, places I’ve visited and, of course, Sewing Street and Hobbymaker!

And just to prove that 45 years later, absolutely nothing has changed…

I’ve just returned from a fabulous cruise, and naturally I managed to pick up a few more badges along the way. It would have been rude not to! But perhaps my favourite purchase happened without even leaving the ship.

Sewing Street launched a set of four Halloween pins while I was away.

Did I need them? Probably not.

Did I order them? Obviously! 🤣

And where was I when I ordered them? Sitting in a bar on the cruise ship, right next to John Scott!

Apparently even being on holiday doesn’t stop the collection growing!

Looking at them all now, I suppose I’ve always had a thing for collecting AND storage.

Perhaps Storage4Crafts was inevitable!

How much weight can craft storage boxes and craft room furniture actually hold?

It’s something I get asked quite a lot about our craft storage furniture, so rather than giving you a vague answer, I thought I’d actually show you.

These aren’t empty boxes either, they’re straight from my craft room and filled with fabric, buttons, badges, stones, gems and all sorts of crafty supplies I’ve accumulated over the years.
So out came the scales.

And because apparently weighing the individual craft storage boxes and trays wasn’t enough, I then piled the whole lot onto one of our desk surfaces.

Total weight: 43.2kg
And the desk didn’t even flinch.

Sometimes it’s much easier to show you than tell you.

What else would you like me to put to the test? I have a feeling You Asked, We Tested might need to become a little series.

The bit I probably don’t show enough, opening up my Watersmeet and actually getting it ready to craft. 🥰

This is exactly why I love these workstations so much.
Everything is stored away when I’m not using it, then within a few moments I’ve got a proper working space, my machines are out, my threads and supplies are right there, and I can just get on with whatever I’m making.

And yes, apparently I have rather a lot of thread.

✈️ A little hello from somewhere above the clouds! ☀️

Well, I promised myself I’d switch off and enjoy my holiday, but when you’re treated to views like these, you simply have to get the camera out!

Flying over the Pyrenees yesterday was absolutely breathtaking. Snow-dusted mountains stretching as far as the eye could see, followed by the beautiful Barcelona coastline and sunshine sparkling across the sea. 😍

And there’s a new member of the travelling party…

Meet Barty! 🧸💙

He somehow managed to come with me from Heathrow. I’m not entirely sure how that happened, but he’s now officially part of the adventure!

Meanwhile, the lovely team are keeping everything running back in Devon, and our 15% holiday discount is available automatically on the website until 25th October.

Normal crafting chaos will resume when I get home. For now, I’m enjoying a slightly different view! 💕

Well, the suitcase is packed, the Kindle is fully loaded (obviously! 📚) and I’m getting ready to swap craft shows, motorways and the workshop for 7 days at sea!

It does mean that, sadly, we won’t be at the Knitting & Stitching Show at Alexandra Palace this year. I know some of you were hoping to see us there, and we’ll miss catching up with everyone.

But I couldn’t disappear without leaving you a little treat, could I?

Well, here we go.

Kevin and I couldn’t watch the first episode of The Celebrity Traitors last night, so we’re catching up tonight.

We only started watching The Traitors last year with the first Celebrity series and got completely hooked, so I have a feeling I know exactly how the next few weeks are going to go.

I LOVE the mix of celebrities they’ve got this time too. Proper recognisable faces from completely different worlds, which should make it very interesting.

No spoilers please because we’re only just starting episode one! 😂

Anyone else watching? Have you already become completely obsessed?

Home from Exeter! 🏡🙌

Three days of talking craft storage, catching up with lovely customers, lots of standing, lots of chatting and we are officially DONE.

Dinner is prepped, everything else can wait, because right now there is only one priority

🛋️ And absolutely no intention of moving for at least ten minutes.

Thank you to everyone who came to see us at the Creative Craft Show this week. Whether you popped over for a chat, had a nose around the units or went home having ordered some new craft storage, it was so lovely to see you.

Now, is one Jammy Dodger an acceptable post-show recovery snack, or should I have the packet? 😂

This is how it starts…

A notebook, a pen, far too many scribbles and another idea that’s been rattling around in my head.

There might be something new starting to take shape at S4C… and this one is a little bit different. I’ve been measuring, scribbling, changing my mind, adding things, crossing things out and generally getting rather carried away.

There is, however, one small detail…

I haven’t actually shown Kevin any of this yet. 😂

So perhaps we should see what he says before I get too excited…
