Today we say a fond farewell to a great friend and colleague as our project director, Howard Lawrence, retires from the company after 32 years of loyal service.

Whilst we were already an established business back in 1993 when Howard joined, there is no doubt he has been a valued member of the team and has helped to create such a successful business.

All at Commercial Lighting Systems Ltd and our partners Meyer thank Howard for his loyalty, commitment and friendship and wish him well for the future.

We’re proud to once again be involved with Remembrance day, this year through our illumination of Imperial War Museum North new Poppies sculpture.

Reimagined from the 2018 artwork Poppies: Wave and Weeping Window, this is now a permanent exhibit in Manchester, illuminated with Meyer Monofloods.

Received a lovely letter today from our partners Meyer congratulating us on our 30 years in business with them. They even prepared us a nice gobo filter for our Sovereign Gobo projector!

Today is the last day of a truly cherished and vital member of Commercial Lighting, one of the original team back in 1991 and a major part of it's operations over the years.

Pam, we all wish you a wonderful and much deserved retirement. Finally time to replace that unrivalled memory bank of part numbers with the exciting new memories that await!

Yesterday we were immensely proud to celebrate a whopping 30 years in business!

We were treated to Afternoon Tea with all the trimmings, and bit of fun with a company quiz - props to Rack D for winning by half a point!

Coming through arguably the most difficult period for the company so far, this has been a much needed time to reflect on what a success story Commercial Lighting has been, owing to the hard work and dedication of the whole CLS team over the years. Many thanks to everyone!

From 'throwaway culture' to 'circular economies' - is positive change happening in the Lighting Industy?

Recently we've been encouraged to see more and more companies responding to the growing call for a more sustainable approach to lighting - refurbish over replace services are being promoted, 'Circular Economy' models offered, and more and more discussions about environmental concerns are taking place across the industry.

At Commercial Lighting, we've been leading the way in encouraging refurbishment over replacement for 30 years, and we're delighted to see others joining us, as our throwaway culture gives way to a more sustainable approach to lighting.

Here's a typical refurbishment order going through CLS production at the moment, converting 80 old metal halide track spots (of another manufacturer) to the latest LED modules. Stay tuned as we expand our popular conversion service into it's own division, reflecting the growing demand from our clients.

We're very conscious that our team have been through it over this past year and have been struggling to find ways to keep things as positive as possible for them.

Today we've made our contribution to the Staff Social Fund more generous so, as soon as restrictions are lifted, we can get some nice team outings organised.
