The boring stuff that actually works…
1. Visiting showrooms for things like flooring and tiles 🚙
I know it feels easier to order samples online, but one day in showrooms will teach you far more, far faster and will save you hours of scrolling.
2. Measure, measure and measure again 📏
Walls, alcoves, ceiling heights, access points, window positions… everything. It saves expensive mistakes!
3. Testing samples properly 👀
Not one tiny sample in one fixed spot.
Large movable samples, viewed in different parts of the room and at different times of day, with all the other elements going into the room.
4. Digging into the details 🕵️♀️
Returns policies, delivery t’s & c’s, lead times, it’s super dull, but knowledge is power and can help prevent a hiccup.
5. Making a proper product board 🛋️
Not 47 open tabs. Not a bunch of screenshots on your phone. Actually put everything together on one page so you can see if it works before you buy it.
6. Finishing the design ✋
I know. It’s exciting, and you want to start ordering stuff, but trust me. Complete the design, then execute.
Which do you find most dull? 🫠
