Your bedroom shouldn’t just look good, it should support how you want to feel!

As an interior designer, I always start here: how do we want this space to feel at the end of the day? Calm? Cocooned? Uplifting? Romantic? From there, colour does the heavy lifting.

Here are 4 “good mood” colours I keep coming back to for bedrooms right now:
Terracotta / Soft Orange
A softened, sun-warmed tone that brings instant warmth and grounding. Think late-summer evenings and golden light.
Sage Green
Naturally calming and restorative. It creates that quiet, exhale feeling the moment you walk in.
Dusty Rose
Warm, soft and quietly romantic. A beautiful way to add personality without overwhelming the space.
Deep Navy
Rich, cocooning and deeply restful. Perfect for creating a bedroom that feels like a proper retreat.

The right colour doesn’t just change a room it changes how you experience it every day.
If your bedroom doesn’t quite feel like the sanctuary you want it to be, this is exactly the kind of transformation I help clients with through my interior design service.

Which mood are you drawn to right now? 👇

“I could never use orange in my home…”

Honestly? Most people say that right before completely falling in love with it 🧡
When used in the right way, burnt oranges and earthy terracotta’s don’t feel loud or overpowering they feel warm, welcoming and full of personality. They bring that golden-hour glow into a space and instantly make a home feel more sociable and lived in.

It’s why I love using these richer tones in kitchens, dining spaces and snug rooms especially. They naturally create warmth, encourage connection and make people want to gather, chat and stay a little longer.

The problem is, so many people avoid colour because they’re scared of getting it wrong. They stick to “safe” neutrals, even when the space doesn’t truly feel like them.

That’s exactly why I offer Colour Advice Sessions.
I help people understand which colours work for their personality, lifestyle and home so they can feel confident being a little braver with their interiors without creating overwhelm.

Because being brave not beige doesn’t mean painting every wall orange… sometimes it’s simply finding the colours that make your home feel happier

When I start a new project, I don't start with paint swatches or fabric samples. I start with how you want to feel.

Designing a "Brave, not Beige" home is about more than just aesthetics; it’s about capturing an atmosphere that makes you feel like the best version of yourself the moment you walk through the door. I always ask my clients to look past the "look" and tap into the vibe of the space first.

Because when we design for emotion, the colours and furniture follow naturally to tell your story.

There’s something really special about spotting your work out in the wild… especially in a magazine that champions local businesses and local people 🤍

I was so excited to feature in the latest edition of Flo’s Mag a brilliant free lifestyle magazine supporting Fareham, Gosport and neighbouring areas. As a small business myself, supporting local will always mean a lot to me, so being part of something community-focused like this felt incredibly special.
Inside the feature, I talk all about my “Be Brave Not Beige” approach to interiors and how colour can completely transform not just how your home looks… but how it feels to live in.
Because so many people want a home with more personality, warmth and confidence they just don’t know where to start.

That’s exactly why I offer Colour Advice Sessions
Whether you’re struggling to choose paint colours, scared of making expensive mistakes, or simply want your home to feel more you, my sessions are designed to help you confidently create a palette and atmosphere that works for your lifestyle and personality.

So if you spot a copy of Flo’s Mag while grabbing a coffee locally… have a little flick through 👀
And if your home’s feeling more beige than brave right now, my Colour Advice Sessions are always open to book 💚

There’s something so special about turning an ordinary lunch into a little moment of joy.

A picnic party at home doesn’t need to be complicated in fact, the magic is in keeping it relaxed, playful and beautifully simple.

Think of it as dressing your table for memories, not perfection.
Start with a soft base a tablecloth or even a picnic blanket layered over the dining table or garden space. Mix in mismatched plates, colourful napkins and a few low glasses so everything feels easy and unfussy.

Then add the fun bits… fresh fruit in bowls, finger food the kids can graze on, little jars of juice, and something sweet at the end (always the best part 🍓).
Don’t overthink the styling let it feel a little messy, a little lived-in, and full of personality. That’s where the charm is.

A few simple touches that make it feel special:
• Fresh flowers or greenery in small jars
• Colourful napkins for a playful lift
• A simple centrepiece like fruit, bread, or candles if it’s an evening picnic vibe
• A mix of seating cushions, stools, even picnic rugs for a relaxed feel

It’s not about a perfect table… it’s about creating a space where everyone feels comfortable enough to linger a little longer.
Because the best interiors aren’t just about how a home looks they’re about how it feels in the everyday moments 💚

What would be on your perfect picnic table?

Bank Holidays aren’t just for BBQs… They’re a brilliant excuse to give your home a little reset.

There’s something about this time of year that makes me want to open the windows, move things around and bring a bit more personality back into our spaces. I’ve been doing exactly that at home recently (yes… paintbrush in hand again 🖌️).
It doesn’t always take a full makeover to shift the energy of a room sometimes it’s the smallest changes that make everything feel lighter, calmer and more “you”.

A few easy weekend refresh ideas:
Wardrobe switch-over
Pack away the heavy layers and bring in lighter textures and linens that make the space feel more effortless.
The cushion edit
Swap out winter tones for something brighter, softer or more patterned an instant lift without overthinking it.
The brave corner
Pick one small area a shelf, a nook, a bit of woodwork and give it a hit of colour or personality you’ve been too nervous to try elsewhere.

It’s not about perfection it’s about creating homes that feel lived in, loved, and quietly confident.
What are you refreshing this weekend?

There’s no higher compliment than making a large-scale renovation feel like a total breeze! I love acting as the bridge between a big vision and reality, taking the weight off my clients' shoulders so they can actually enjoy the process. 🩵

Are you naturally drawn to warm orange tones in interiors… or do you just not feel brave enough to use them yet?

Because this Kitchen & Snug proves that warm, earthy shades don’t have to feel loud or overpowering. They can feel cosy, uplifting and effortlessly inviting.
The burnt orange bar stools, rich velvet sofas and layered patterned cushions bring warmth and personality into the space, while the deep navy cabinetry and soft neutral backdrop keep everything feeling grounded and balanced.

It’s these warmer tones that make a home feel social. Welcoming. Relaxed. The kind of space where people naturally gather around the island for a catch up, or sink into the sofa with a glass of wine at the end of the day.
And this is exactly why I created my Colour Personality Quiz.

So many people stick to “safe” colours because they don’t know what truly suits their personality, lifestyle or the feeling they want their home to create. The quiz helps uncover the colours you naturally connect with, giving you the confidence to move beyond beige and create a home that genuinely feels like you.

Because the right colours don’t just transform a room… they transform how you feel in it.

Orange: The colour you either love or hate, but never ignore…

The ultimate social hue in design psychology, offering a blend of warmth, optimism, and high energy that turns any room into a conversation starter.

Using pops of nectarine or terracotta, like this statement Loaf armchair, instantly makes a living room feel warmer and more welcoming. Whether it’s a patterned lampshade or a curated stack of books, these small bursts of orange are perfect for infusing energy and life into a space.

If you find yourself naturally drawn to these sun-drenched shades, you likely have a "Spring" or "Autumn" colour personality!
