HOME SERIES No. 2 | The Snug

This is our snug — a cosy little corner tucked into the kitchen and very much our place to unwind.

It’s where we catch up on the day, listen to music, put the world to rights and usually end up with a glass of wine in hand.

I’ve always loved blending old with new, and this room sums that up perfectly. Years ago, I stumbled across Furniture Spraying Scotland, who take beautifully made vintage pieces and give them a new lease of life. The sideboard is an old Stag piece, reimagined in Farrow & Ball’s De Nimes Blue, while the Alternative Flooring Margot Selby rug brings a contemporary burst of colour and pattern underfoot.

I love the contrast of vintage and modern pieces sitting comfortably alongside one another. For me, homes should evolve over time, filled with things you genuinely love rather than simply following trends.

Cosy, colourful and completely us 💙

THE HOME SERIES | NO.1 ❤️

People often ask me where my love of interiors comes from — and whether our home is as colourful as the shop. The honest answer is absolutely.

I’ve always believed a home should feel warm, welcoming and full of personality. Home by Julia Nairn gives me endless inspiration, but I very much believe in living with what you love — colour, texture, pattern and pieces that make you happy.

This staircase sums that up perfectly for me — a bold Alternative Flooring Margo Selby carpet with Farrow & Ball Bancha panelling. A hallway should make you smile too.

I thought I’d start sharing little snippets of my home each week — the spaces, colours and ideas I live with, and perhaps a little inspiration for your own homes along the way 🤍

(With Blue inevitably making an appearance)

As a rule, I try not to take work home with me. When these cushions landed in store earlier in the week, it was love at first sight.
They now live with me. Woven in a dense 100% cotton twill, rich blue ticking and stripes and filled with a feather pad. Perfection.
We have new stock arriving daily, come and have a browse.

What if I told you about a beautiful independent shop only 15 miles from Stirling, 45 miles from Glasgow centre and 55 miles from Edinburgh?

A place with a great big car park.
No double yellow lines, parking meters, traffic lights or wardens.

Just a beautiful destination where you can browse our carefully curated collection at your leisure, stay for lunch, or simply enjoy a coffee overlooking the garden.

Home Bridge of Allan closure.

It feels right to call time on Home, Bridge of Allan - when we opened just over two years ago things were very different, we had another business in the village and lived there.

After a bumpy few years it feels the right decision, and most importantly to have a better work life balance in 2026.

I’ve had some terrific support over the years on Henderson street and have loved meeting customers from all over. I’ve also had the most terrific team, particularly Susan who has been with me from the start, thank you x I should also mention Ciao, Bridge of Allan - the entire 26 months was fuelled by Ciao flat whites, grazie!

Home at Nick’s at Port of Menteith will operate as normal and I’m looking forward to focusing my energy on that space, expand our product range and continue to find exciting new brands. If you haven’t visited, please do!

Thank you for all your support. We are closed for a break at the moment. Our BIG closing down sale will be from Sat 24 Jan and our final day will be Sun 1st Feb. Everything must go, including display items of furniture.
