What crochet 'rules' are we ignoring?????
So here's the thing i crochet for me and if design for everyone else
How i get there is n my terms
I will hold my hook and yarn however I want if you dont like it scroll on by
Theres no one right way theres multiple different ways
It should always be about whats comfortable for you
Ill also not be sucked in by the yarn under yarn under debate
I yarn under yarn over
It works
It gives me great tension
And my plushies look neat
Again it works for me (noticing a theme yet?)
And who cares if my animals arent animal colours
Why would I try and fit my square peg in a round hole
Why not be unique!
Crochet is and always should be your craft
YOUR WAY!

Who's getting a gold star today??? 🌟
My 'gold star behaviours' are things that I stand by even if others dont
Theyre things crocheters often get chastised for
Theyre things opinionated people would comment on as 'bad'
But theyre things that are completely fine too in any world but especially the crochet world
Having every colour of chenille yarn - not waste but important because I know when I want a colour (like now I dont have dark brown and i need it 😅) it wont be there!
Choosing no or low sew is not a coo out its choosing joy if thats your method of choice
Having plushies everywhere! Yes please especially for my ASD brain
Loving your wonky plushies too! They might not be perfect but theyre progress and that matters!
Never giving up on a pattern! This ones a bit more tricky but going back to and wip and not letting it beat you releases some serious endorphins
Supporting small designers instead of tearing them down because they dont have enough followers
Those are my gold star behaviours for sure :)

What do you reckon
Is there some elephants in the room here?
I have my opinions and I stand by them that makes me my own person
And in the 6 years ive been designing ive seen and experienced some pretty shocking things
Sellers that wont UKCA test their plushies because they mark them as 'not a toy' or just dont think it applies to them because theyre only selling to buy more yarn 🤦🏻‍♀️
Customers saying cheap patterns are obviously AI SLOP when they have no clue what goes into designing or pricing a pattern
People looking at a crochet pattern and dismissing it because it only uses a UK Dc when in fact it has several different costumes or parts that create a pretty epic creature
Toxicity from other crochet designers. Especially on Facebook, not sure if they think it makes them cool to hate on the competition but im 37 years old so I ain't playing those games!
What do you reckon. Any more to add to the pile???
