A little something to celebrate 🥂

Our Humfrey Lane project has been shortlisted for the Build It Awards, and we’re pretty chuffed about it.

This triple-stacked staircase was a real showcase of bespoke design, combining a distinctive square structure with flowing curves and continuous handrails, all crafted from solid 40mm oak.

A huge well done to everyone involved in bringing this one to life. Fingers crossed for the next stage! 🤞

We might be biased, but our installation team really are a talented bunch.

Another big installation, completed.

Replacing the existing staircase across two flights was a pretty major transformation for this home. What was once a tired, traditional staircase is now something that completely changes the feel of the entrance.

The steel structure was carefully designed to create the winding turn without the need for the structural posts you’d typically expect to see. And that feature step at the base? It doesn’t just look good. It also makes the staircase accessible from multiple directions.

A lot of engineering, planning and hard work goes into making something like this look effortless.

This project is a little bit special.

Apart from the obvious, it features an elliptical main stringer, creating three different radii along a single stringer, with another four radii across the outer stringer.

Trust us, it was just as complicated to engineer as it sounds.

But details like this are what make a bespoke staircase work. In this case, creating the right shape and scale to perfectly fill what is a pretty stunning and generously sized entrance hallway.

We’ve worked with a lot of different timbers over the years, but American walnut is always a firm favourite.

It’s a more premium option, but one we think is well worth considering. Naturally darker and warmer than many of the timbers we use, its distinctive grain brings plenty of character to a piece.

It also works beautifully against more neutral interiors, introducing warmth and depth without having to change everything else around it.

Not every staircase earns attention by demanding it.

At first glance, this design feels calm and understated. Look a little closer and you’ll find the engineering that makes it possible. A full steel core sits hidden beneath solid timber cladding, creating a unique stacked tread design.

The rich stained timber gives the staircase real presence, while allowing it to sit naturally within the home.

And what a home it is.
