This is why I love processing my own wood for the handles of my walking sticks. 🌳
I get to choose the very best pieces and bring out what’s already hiding inside the timber. I’ve just roughed out this cherry wood handle and even at this stage… just look at that grain! 😍
There’s still plenty of work to go, but you can already see this one is going to be something special.

🌿 Irish Yew — from a piece of Irish-grown timber to a one-of-a-kind walking stick handle.
Beautifully figured, naturally distinctive and hand crafted here in Ireland. Every piece of yew has its own character, and bringing that character out by hand is what makes the process so enjoyable.
From rough timber to something you can hold in your hand and appreciate for years to come. 🇮🇪
What do you think of the finished handle?

There’s something special about taking a piece of ash plank and turning it into something completely different. 🌳
This walking stick was hand turned from ash, giving the shaft a clean, flowing shape before finishing it with a striking spalted beech handle and padauk spacer. 👌

There’s something special about working the wood by hand. 🌿
Rasping away at this Irish blackthorn shillelagh, slowly bringing the shape out and enjoying the process.
No rush. No shortcuts. Just blackthorn, a rasp, and a bit of time. 🪵
Do you enjoy watching the slow process of a stick taking shape?

Shaping the head of this Irish blackthorn revealed something pretty special… 👀

The tip of this thorn was actually showing when I started, but as I shaped the head back, it became clear just how deeply it had grown into the wood.

You can see the old thorn running right down into the timber — a little piece of the tree’s history that would otherwise have been lost.

This is why I love working with blackthorn. You never quite know what you’re going to uncover. 🌿

There’s something about a big, chunky handle that just makes a walking stick stand out. 👀
This one is a proper heavyweight in appearance sleek black Irish ash with a deep brown beech handle. Simple combination, but look at how well those two woods work together.
Made by hand, one at a time, and finished to show it off.

A lovely combination on this one, Irish ash shaft paired with a chunky beech handle. 🌿
I really like the contrast between the deep, rich brown of the handle and the sleek piano-black finish on the ash. Strong, solid and full of character, with that big k**b handle giving it a real presence in the hand.

A couple of lovely reviews have come through recently, and it honestly means a lot to see the sticks out there being enjoyed. ❤️

Even better when customers take the time to send photos along with their kind words.

I put a lot of time and care into every stick I make, so seeing them being used and appreciated is one of the best parts of doing what I do.

Thank you to everyone who takes the time to leave a review, send a photo or simply message me about your stick. It really is appreciated. 🍀

There’s nothing small about this one. 👌

A big, chunky hawthorn stick paired with a seriously chunky spalted beech handle — full of character, weight and plenty of natural beauty.

I love the way the spalted beech has turned out against the hawthorn. A proper substantial stick that feels like it means business.

What do you think of this one? 🌿

Come along with me into the workshop as I take you through cutting and preparing an antler topper for a Hazel walking stick. 🦌🌿
This is a little look at my process, from the raw antler to getting it ready to become part of the finished stick. There’s a fair bit of careful work that goes into getting everything just right.
Come see me at work and see how it all comes together. 🔨
