In May of this year, during NeoAncients festival, we made a dinner service for an exhibition at HOG curated by Legion Projects based on the 1967 low fantasy novel The Owl Service by Alan Garner.
๐Ÿฆ‰
Our dinner service is a tribute to the character Blodeuwedd -the driving force in the novel- & takes cue from the forms of thistle, meadowsweet & broom; a full ceramic flower when stacked, & an unfurling display when pulled apart for culinary use.

The Owl Service is a novel which focuses on an old, forgotten tea set found in a Welsh attic that draws three teenagers into reliving the tragic, ancient Welsh myth of Blodeuwedd. Blodeuwedd is the protagonist in the Welsh story the Mabinogion which concerns a woman conjured out of broom & meadowsweet flowers who betrayed her husband Lleu and was punished by being transformed into an owl.

As part of Site Festival 2026 we will be hosting a series of events at H.O.G centred around Stone / Earth / Soil from its most mythical majesty to its alchemical properties.

An exhibition in our shop -held throughout the festival- of paintings by renowned artist F. John Owen will be opening on 12th June. 6-8pm
๐ŸŒ—
We will be conducting a talk with passionate stone explorers: Stone Clubโ€™s Matthew Shaw & Lally MacBeth on 13th June. 5pm.
๐ŸŒ“
And the following weekend the alchemical wizard Phil Root will be holding a day workshop on the magical phenomenon of glazing.
