You understood the assignment 🫡✨

This client’s brief was simple: create a home that felt neutral, calm and cosy.

We worked really collaboratively throughout the design process, and part of my role was gently pushing them outside of their comfort zone. By introducing different tones through the furniture and layering materials carefully, we created a space that feels balanced, harmonious and full of warmth.

One of my favourite pieces of feedback from this client is that they often come home at lunchtime, make a coffee and simply sit and enjoy the feeling of the space. To me, that’s what great design is all about.

Working with a designer isn’t just about choosing furniture and paint colours. It’s about having someone who knows when a space needs a little more, when it needs less, and how to bring everything together in a way that feels effortless.

This project is still ongoing thanks to some lengthy furniture lead times, but I already know it’s going to be worth the wait 🤎

Wow, I am so honoured to have received another award this year! 🥹✨

What’s even more surreal is that I haven’t applied for or sought out any of these awards. To be recognised in this way is something I never expected when I started Chloe Johnston Interiors.

My business is still relatively new, and moments like this make me stop and think that maybe I really am doing something right 🤎

A huge thank you to all of my wonderful clients who have trusted me with their homes, recommended me to friends and supported my little business along the way. None of this would be possible without you.

I’m so grateful that I get to do a job I genuinely love every day, and I can’t wait to see what the rest of this year brings ✨

Describe your job, but make it illegal 🤣

Jokes aside, this is exactly why trust is so important when working with an interior designer.

You’re inviting someone into your home, your routines, your family life and often trusting them with a significant investment. It’s about so much more than choosing paint colours and cushions.

The best projects happen when there’s a genuine relationship between designer and client. When clients feel comfortable being honest about how they live, what they love and what isn’t working, I can create spaces that truly work for them.

Being trusted with that process is something I never take for granted 🤎

POV: Me and the client on site once everything starts getting installed 🤭✨

There’s something so special about taking a vision that’s lived in mood boards, samples and 3D renders for months and finally seeing it come to life.

It makes the long days, weekend working and endless decision-making completely worth it. Well, that and seeing the client’s reaction when they finally walk into their finished space 🥹🤎

I genuinely love what I do.

If you’re having quartz or marble installed, chances are you’re paying for the full slab — so always ask to keep any offcuts.

They can be repurposed beautifully in bathrooms, shelving, bespoke joinery, bathroom vanities, coffee tables or even little details like coasters. A great way to make the most of the material and add thoughtful touches throughout your home.

My biggest tip is to choose a style that actually suits your home. Different panelling styles, heights and layouts all create a completely different feel within a space.

Want something timeless and elegant? A more traditional Georgian style works beautifully.
Looking for something softer and more relaxed? Shiplap instantly creates that cosy, homely feel.

Spend the morning with me ✨

I had so much fun spending the morning with .type, who joined me to capture a little behind-the-scenes look at what a typical day can look like as an interior designer.

While a lot of my time is spent behind a laptop working on layouts, specifications and sourcing, site visits are where so many important decisions happen. Some things simply can’t be solved over a phone call, and being on-site allows me to spot issues, answer questions and keep projects moving forward.

One of the biggest benefits of my full-service package is having someone there to coordinate with trades and suppliers on your behalf. My clients gain access to my trusted network of trades, and I’m always on hand to help navigate the inevitable questions and challenges that come with a renovation 🤝🏼🤎

The glamorous bits are lovely, but it’s often these behind-the-scenes moments that make the biggest difference to the finished result. ✨

A little photo dump of some of the lovely bits I’ve been sourcing and installing for clients lately, mixed in with a few random moments from day-to-day life.

It definitely isn’t always glamorous behind the scenes… but honestly, I wouldn’t change a thing.

Can you see the vision yet 😍? I cannot wait to see this space complete!

Quartz was installed at the bar project last week and it’s already starting to come together beautifully ✨

And this is one of the biggest benefits of working with a designer — when things inevitably go wrong during a renovation, you have someone there to handle it.

The quartz had unfortunately been installed incorrectly, but one message from the client and I was straight on the phone getting it sorted. By the next day the team were back installing the correct piece and everything was made right 🤎
