I have an idea for a fireplace completely clad in tiles and now I can’t stop thinking about it.

Something that feels more like a piece of furniture than a traditional fireplace… warm, bold, decorative and a real focal point in the room.

So naturally, I’ve been saving tiles like there’s no tomorrow. Now I just need the right project to use them on…

Some rooms can take a little drama.

I knew I wanted this hallway to feel enveloping rather than simply decorated.

Red on the walls. Red on the woodwork. Red on the panelling.

Rather than fighting a space that doesn’t get masses of natural light, I decided to lean into it.

The result is warm, cocooning and deliberately bold — and it completely changes the feeling of arriving home.

We don’t design the hallway. We design the arrival.

01 / SMALL DOESN’T HAVE TO FEEL SMALL.
Good design isn’t about how much space you have. It’s about what you do with it.

02 / BE BRAVER WITH MATERIALS.
In a small space, one bold material can have more impact than lots of different ideas.

03 / COLOUR DOESN’T HAVE TO SHOUT.
Burgundy. Stone. Brass. Three materials, one beautifully restrained palette.

04 / IT’S ALL ABOUT THE DETAILS.
Switches. Handles. Taps. Hardware. The smallest details can completely change how considered a room feels.

05 / OLD AND NEW LOOK GREAT TOGETHER.
Not everything needs replacing. Age, patina and imperfection are often the things that give a space its soul.

06 / FUNCTION CAN STILL BE BEAUTIFUL.
The practical parts of a home deserve just as much design attention. Even a splashback can become the thing you remember.

From landscape to home. Apparently I have a colour palette.

To***co. Olive. Sand. Chalk. Charcoal.

Looking at this corner of the garden after yesterday's beach palette, I'm beginning to see a pattern.

Perhaps we're drawn to the same colours without even realising it.
