Solar control from the outside. Natural light and views from the inside.
One of the concerns we often hear about solar window film is:
“Will it make my room feel dark?”
These two photos from a recent Shades Window Films installation help answer that perfectly.
We installed External Silver 35 solar control window film to this large area of residential glazing.
From outside, you can clearly see the smart reflective finish of the film. But take a look at the second photo from inside the room and you'll see that there's still plenty of natural daylight — and the view of the garden hasn't disappeared.
The film helps to:
✅ Reduce unwanted solar heat
✅ Cut uncomfortable glare
✅ Reduce UV exposure
✅ Maintain natural daylight
✅ Preserve the view from inside
It's all about finding the right balance between solar protection and enjoying the glazing you already have.
We've taken a closer look at external solar control window film, including why some films are installed externally, in our latest guide.
