Styling shelves can be surprisingly tricky to get right. It's not just about choosing lovely accessories, but finding the right balance of shapes, heights, colours and textures.

For a recent living room project, we've created this styling visual using the actual products we've sources for our client, helping them see how the different pieces could work together before making any purchases.

Alongside the visual, we've put together a clickable shopping list, giving them the freedom to choose and order the pieces they love, with a clearer idea of how everything will come together.

It's all starting to come together...

A little glimpse at the palette taking shape for one of our current projects.

Soft greens, warm neutrals, natural oak and lots of lovely texture. There's been plenty of sampling, swapping and comparing along the way, it's amazing how much difference a slight change in colour or texture can make!

This is one of my favourite parts of the design process. Bringing all the different elements together and making sure everything works as a whole, rather than simply choosing things individually.

We're almost there with this one.. now I can't wait to see it all come to life.

Choosing the right white is never as simple as it sounds...

A friend recently asked me about paint colours as the white she had chosen was looking much cooler in her room than she had expected.

Our UK daylight can be quite cool, especially as we head into autumn and it loves to pull out the blue or grey undertones you might not have noticed on the paint card.

My tip: paint a sample on a white A4 card and move it around to different walls. Live with it for a few days and look at it in the morning, on a grey afternoon and again in the evening with your lights on.

You might be surprised at just how different the same colour can look.

Sometimes, the piece you're looking for simply doesn't exist.

In recent years, we've found it's become increasingly difficult to source that one piece of furniture that is just right for a particular space.

For this bedroom, bespoke was the only way to go.

We needed the bedside unit to be slim in both width and depth, with curved detailing rather than harsh angles, something we weren't going to find on the high street.

Going bespoke gave us the flexibility to make every detail work for the space. We could echo the detailing of the slatted wall and introduce subtle fluting to the shelving, creating a piece that feels like it belongs in the space and feels right for the room.

Following the great success of the cabins at Cotswold Country Retreats, we're grateful to be working with the client again to bring their next project to life.

This time, we wanted to explore something a little different: a cabin that is Designed to Reveal.

Wrapped in dark timber, the exterior is deliberately understated, but step across the threshold and it opens up to reveal a private retreat with uninterrupted views across the surrounding landscape.

Although still at the conceptual stage, the 3D visualisation lets us experience the design by exploring the proportions, flow, materials, textures and overall feel of the space.

We're really looking forward to seeing this one evolve.

Does this recent data suggest a shift in the way we think about our homes?

Perhaps our bedrooms are becoming more important as spaces to rest, recuperate and switch off for a while.

Our bedrooms are often the first and last space we experience each day, so creating a room that feels calm, comfortable and restorative can make a difference to how we experience our home.

This room was designed around the way a teenage boy actually lives.

His brief was clear: minimal, practical and contemporary, with dedicated space to study, game, relax and watch TV, alongside plenty of power points and lighting that could adapt to how the room is used.

Rather than filling the room with unnecessary furniture, we focused on making the most of the space and giving careful thought to every detail.

Warm oak brings texture and softness to the neutral palette, while the slatted feature wall creates a strong backdrop for the bed and integrated bedside lighting.

A room designed to work for him now, while still feeling right as he grows.

How do people find the time to do it all?

We've been asking ourselves this lately while renovating our own home and every spare hour somehow disappears.

The irony is, we know what we're doing. We could pay someone else to do it, but naturally, we don't!

Your home can sit on that mental to-do list for months, even years, quietly nagging away at you.

We can take that weight away.

You tell us how you live, what isn't working and what you want your home to feel like. Then we take care of the rest. Because you should get to enjoy your home, not spend every spare hour trying to finish it like we are!

Sometimes the biggest transformation doesn't come from replacing everything, it comes from colour alone.

This client had been gradually updating their home but wanted to move away from the yellow-toned walls that had been there for a while. So we focused on finding a colour palette that worked with what was already there, the furniture, the flooring and the natural light, rather than starting over.

Using COAT paints' peelable samples, we tried different shades in the space before committing to anything.

Camber went on the hall, stairs and landing. Rooted on the wall at the end of the hallway, for a focal point. Mindful in the bedroom, for something softer.

Same furniture. Same layout. A completely different feeling.
