Come and See us on Saturday 💐
Kingsdown Crematorium to celebrate 60 years this weekend!🥳🌳
For 60 years, Kingsdown Crematorium has been a quiet constant in the lives of Swindon residents.
It continues to be a place where grief is met with compassion, where families gather to honour loved ones, and where dedicated staff have supported generations through some of their most difficult moments.
This Saturday (25 April), the crematorium will mark its 60th anniversary by opening its doors to the community and celebrating the thousands of stories, memories and people connected to the site since it first opened in 1966.
Taking place from 11am to 2.30pm, the open day will feature:
• A Teddy Bear Picnic hosted by bereavement charity Wiltshire Treehouse with a story session by local author Kate Claxton
• A Teddy Bear Amnesty where visitors can donate pre-loved teddies to the crematorium’s Comfort Bear scheme (where bears are given to young children for support)
• Behind the scenes tours of the crematorium
• Stalls from organisations such as stonemasons, life celebrants and funeral directors
There will also be a special memorial service will also provide a moment of reflection, offering visitors the chance to remember loved ones from across the decades.
The open day is free and does not require booking. Refreshments will be available from The Bird Brew Co. and Mario’s Ice Cream Van.
