ANTA Scotland

ANTA Scotland Made in Scotland. Interiors, stoneware, textiles, furniture, & fashion. Introducing contemporary colours to traditional Scottish design.

In 1984 Annie and Lachlan Stewart founded the design partnership ANTA Scotland creating original home furnishing collections of textiles and ceramic stoneware, all inspired by the Scottish landscape and seasons. After rescuing and restoring an eighteenth century weaver's house in Spitalfields, they set up a studio in London, living and working from home. They returned home to the Highlands in 1990

to start their pottery and textile manufacturing, building a team by training craftsmen and women locally and opened stores in London, Edinburgh and Glasgow. In 2020 the ecommerce site was relaunched and ANTA's sole residence became Tain, in the Highlands. The premises include a factory, warehouse and shop. Today, ANTA offers a range of Stoneware, all decorated by hand, and Homeware including carpet and cushions, throws and accessories, selling both direct to customer and to trade.

Named in honour of Gordon Brown, owner of Browns Gallery in Tain and Inverness, this design celebrates a longstanding champion of Scottish art and craftsmanship. Browns Gallery is renowned for showcasing exceptional Scottish artists, makers and designers, with a carefully curated collection of paintings, ceramics, jewellery, glass and textiles.
Continuing our tradition of naming fabrics after the people and places that inspire us, the Gordon Brown throw is a celebration of Scotland's rich creative heritage.

Back in stock. Our Wren and Owl lampshades celebrate the soft, natural tones of the Scottish landscape, from golden sandy beaches and weathered stone to the gentle beauty of the birds that inspired their names. While both share a timeless neutral palette, each has its own unique character.

Owl features deeper sandy tones with richer texture and warm shades of cream, while wren offers a lighter, softer finish with delicate cream tones and a more subtle weave. Both pair beautifully with all ANTA lamp bases, allowing you to create a timeless combination of texture, warmth and elegance in any room.

Behind the Design - Ochil first became part of the ANTA Collection in 2015 as a Highland Tweed and Carpet. A few years later we launched it as a stoneware design. The design takes inspiration from the summer blooms of the central belt in Scotland, the green and pink complement each other creating a warm bright design. Who would like to see us bring back Ochil fabric and carpet?

Behind the Design - Freddy Clunes started as a Scottish Wool Throw. It is a part of the Clunes collection, each design taking its name from the family who farm at South Clunes Farm. Freddy takes its colours from summer wild blooms found often in meadow grasses. Warm yellows are paired with lilac and purple creating a tonally soft design. Freddy Clunes now is part of our carpet collection and as a carpet bag.
