The North Yorkshire Yarn Trail starts on Saturday 12th September and runs until Sunday 27th September. 14 places are taking part this year, and Yarn Trail Maps, as shown below will be available to pick up, along with your passport from 7th September, watch out for your local shop saying they have them in stock. The Premise is easy, visit a participating shop, collect a map and passport. Collect stamps on your passport as you visit shops along the trail. No purchase is necessary to collect a stamp. The shops taking part will have various events and competitions within them, please follow the shops individually on social media too for more details. Yarndale takes place on Saturday and Sunday 26th and 27th September at Skipton Auction Mart. This is a separate ticketed event, please see their website. Some of the shops on the trail do have stands at Yarndale, and the Yarn Trail will be represented at a stand there too. You can gain an additional Yarndale stamp from the Trail stand at the show. Take part in the UK’s biggest knitting and crochet survey!
UK Hand Knitting (UKHK) is inviting knitters and crocheters across the country to take part in an exciting new survey — with the chance to win one of 30 prizes worth £50 each.

The research aims to better understand how people enjoy and experience knitting and crochet today. Whether you’ve just picked up your first pair of needles or you’ve been crafting for years, your voice matters.

The survey takes a closer look at:
· What yarn and craft products people love to buy
· Where they shop — from local yarn stores to online favourites
· How makers discover inspiration, patterns, and new ideas
· How people learn and grow their skills

By sharing your experience, you’ll be helping to shape the future of knitting and crochet in the UK — supporting shops, designers, and the wider crafting community.
And as a thank you, everyone who completes the survey will be entered into a prize draw to win one of 30 x £50 prizes.

September also means it's time for the North Yorkshire Yarn Trail and this year we are celebrating our 5th Birthday! Week one of Madebyanita ‘s beautiful A Love Letter to Autumn CAL has begun and I’m into square one. I chose the Original colourway, in Stylecraft Yarns Special DK, and I’m really enjoying hooking again.
