A little autumn magic, made with wool… ✨🍂

Meet Nimlet, one of our new Jumbo Carded Wool Batts, inspired by Samhain and the darker, more mysterious side of autumn.

Combining our dyed 21 micron Merino with natural Black Welsh wool and colourful sari silk, Nimlet is full of rich, moody shades, with little flashes of colour and texture adding that extra touch of magic.

Made here in our Gloucestershire mill using our traditional 1930s carding machinery, we thought you'd enjoy seeing how all those fibres come together to create this rather special Jumbo Batt.

A little bit of Samhain magic from the Wingham mill! ✨

Watching sea glass colours become fibre… 🌊

Inspired by the beautiful, soft colours of sea glass, Ruscombe is one of our new Jumbo Carded Wool Batts.

Combining our Dyed 21 Micron Merino with natural White Shetland British Wool, Ruscombe brings together those lovely coastal shades in one generously sized batt.

Made here in our Gloucestershire mill using our traditional 1930s carding machinery, we thought you'd enjoy seeing how it all comes together, from the individual fibres to the finished Jumbo Batt. 💚

Our 1930s carding engine has certainly been busy lately 🐑⚙️

If you spotted our little teaser a few weeks ago, you'll know we've been working on something new. We're now really pleased to share the results — our brand new range of Jumbo Carded Wool Batts, made right here at our Gloucestershire mill.

What makes these particularly special is the machinery behind them.
Our carding engine dates back to at least the early 1930s and was rescued from a closing woollen mill in Huddersfield in the 1990s. We've been working with it and looking after it ever since, and there's something rather wonderful about seeing machinery that's nearly 100 years old still producing beautiful wool today.

Our new Jumbo Batts bring together colourful Dyed Merinos , Silks, and a variety of Natural Wools from our existing range, all blended and carded here at Wingham Wool.
The result? Lovely, lofty batts full of colour and texture, ready for spinning, felting and all sorts of woolly projects.

We've launched with our first selection of colourways, with plenty more combinations to come as the range grows.
And to celebrate the launch, we're offering ÂŁ10 off each Jumbo Batt this week!
They also come with FREE UK Tracked 48 Shipping. 📦

We're really excited about this new chapter for our old machinery, and we hope you'll enjoy working with these batts as much as we've enjoyed making them.

Not a museum piece…

Our 1920s carding engine in motion at the Wingham mill.

It might be nearly a century old, but we’ve got plans to put it to very good use again…

Something new (and rather woolly) is in the works. 👀

Our Custom Blend Builder lets you create a wool blend that’s completely your own — choosing your fibres, colours, blend size and number of passes.

Everything you choose is picked and processed here at the Wingham mill, bringing your selection together into your own custom blend.

And this week, blending is just £1 per pass, per 500g, plus the cost of your chosen fibres — saving you up to £5 per 500g on our usual blending charges.

Choose from one to four passes, depending on how thoroughly blended and consistent you’d like the finished fibre to be.

Perhaps it’s time to revisit a favourite combination… or see what happens when you try something completely new.

Choosing from over 115 Merino colours is lovely… until you’re clicking backwards and forwards between dozens of shades trying to work out which ones look good together! 😅

So, we’ve made things a little easier.

Our new Merino Colour Browser lets you explore the Wingham Wool Merino range all in one place — search for particular colours, compare shades and put together your own palette without having to open product after product.

And when you’ve made your choices, you can select your 50g or 100g portions and add them all to your basket from the same page.

Whether you know exactly what you’re looking for, you’re trying to find just the right shade, or you simply fancy a bit of colour inspiration, we hope it makes browsing our rather enormous Merino range much easier!

🎨 Have a play with the new Merino Colour Browser on our website — and let us know what colour combinations you come up with.

Wingham Wool will be at the Southern Wool Show in Newbury next week!

We’ll be bringing a great selection of our 21 Micron Dyed Merino, natural British wools, Ashford wheels and looms, Wingham equipment and plenty of other favourites.

✨ NEW FOR THIS YEAR – ORDER ONLINE & COLLECT AT THE SHOW ✨

Following requests from customers, you can now place your order through our website in advance and collect it from our stand at the Southern Wool Show.

Simply order as normal and select Southern Wool Show Collection at checkout. We’ll get everything together beforehand and have it waiting for you in Newbury.

It’s particularly handy if there’s something specific you’d like to make sure we bring with us – or if you’d simply rather spend less time shopping and more time enjoying the show.

If you’d like to use this service, please order early. There’s a limit to how many collection orders we can prepare, transport and store on the stand, so we may need to close the option early if demand is particularly high.

And, of course, you’re very welcome to simply come and shop with us on the day. 🐑

Whether you’re collecting an order, stocking up on fibre, having a look at equipment or just stopping by for a chat, we’d love to see you in Newbury!
