🌿 Himalayan H**p & Nettle 🌿

Among the many materials we work with, Himalayan h**p and nettle have long been at the heart of our journey.

For centuries, people living in the remote Himalayan mountains have harvested h**p and nettle and transformed their fibres into yarn by hand.

Far from towns and cities, every step of the process — from gathering the plants and extracting the fibres to spinning the yarn — is carried out by hand, using skills passed down through generations.

Grown naturally in the mountains, these hardy fibres gradually become softer through careful hand processing and are turned into beautiful yarn.

When I first arrived in Nepal in 2003, I encountered these uneven, textured yarns for the very first time.

Until then, I had only known yarns that were refined, smooth and perfectly uniform.

These irregular yarns felt entirely different. Their unevenness carried character, and their very existence revealed the beauty and warmth of something made entirely by hand.

Twenty-three years later, they still continue to captivate me. They remain at the heart of what we do at Sorazora.

They are not only fibres, but a living mountain craft tradition that we hope to continue supporting and sharing for years to come.

🌸🥰
So happy to see blossom season arriving here and there.

Despite the rain forecast for Friday, our stall will be up at Totnes Market this weekend.
Saturday is looking dry and brighter 🙌🏻

While most of our knitwear is still available, we are no longer bringing winter accessories such as beanies, leg warmers, and wrist warmers.
If you’d like us to bring any, just let us know.

In their place, and hoping for sunnier days, our sun hats will be out in the stall from tomorrow ☀️

We’ve also added another women’s outfit, as shown in the images:

• Suteki Long Dress
• Short Haori Cardi – Ocean Green
• Haoshow * Shinra Nanasai

Wishing you all a wonderful weekend 🫶🏼

Will be at Totnes Market this Friday and Saturday ☀️

A gentle collection of handwoven and natural fibre pieces will be with us —
each one carrying the quiet strength and warmth of the hands that made them.

Soft wool knitwear, three kinds of hoodies, and a small selection of women’s pieces that can be worn together or simply on their own, as you feel.

Clothing to move, breathe, and live in —
simple, natural, and quietly expressive.

Come and feel them in person ✨

🪡 Darning 🧶 ダーニング(日本語訳はコメント欄)

When you wear hand-knitted wool garments often and for many years, it is very natural that the yarn may break or loosen.
This often leads to the creation of a small hole in the garment. If left unattended, the small holes inevitably become larger.

Sometimes, even newly made pieces can arrive to the U.K. with tiny holes.
Whether a result of not being tied off at the end of production, a weak section of yarn or damage in storage or transit, these issues benefit from early detection and early repair.

For the pieces that need repair — and for our own sweaters — we have been learning darning through YouTube tutorials and practice.
Over time, we have become able to repair simple holes and loose threads ourselves.

As sellers of wool garments, we sometimes feel it would be wonderful if Sorazora could offer a darning service, helping to nurture a cycle of care and longevity for the garments.

However, in reality we do not currently have the time nor the required skill to satisfactorily offer this service ourselves.

If you are someone who feels they can offer occasional darning or knit repair services,
we would be very happy to introduce you to Sorazora customers when needed.

Whether you are located nearby or elsewhere in the UK or Japan, it would be lovely to gradually build a small network of people who help keep these garments loved and worn for many years.

If this resonates with you,
please feel free to contact us by email or say hello at the market.

🍃 Living Clothing 🍂

Rooted. Grounded. Keep growing. Sorazora began — and continues — as a journey of presence. Through our travels across Asia, we encountered the rich textile traditions of Nepal and formed lasting relationships with artisans whose skills have been passed down through generations. Over two decades, these connections have grown into trusted partnerships built on mutual respect and shared values. From South Devon to Nepal, we continue weaving this story together.
