Happy Earth Day! 🌍✨

I know I’ve been quiet over here lately, but that’s cause I’ve been wrapped up in lots of exciting projects!
This illustration was a lovely reminder to slow down and reconnect with myself and my art. If you’re familiar with my work, then you know nature is a huge inspiration for me. So what better way than to celebrate Earth day with a proper self indulgent illustration! 🌿 I had so much fun working on this!

I love this little sproutling character! 🌱

If you read my last post, you’ll know that I’m going to be launching a Patre0n. It’s something I’ve wanted to do for years now, but I’ve put it off because it never felt like the right time. But I’m so excited to finally be working on it! And I have lots of exciting ideas for it! I’ll share more on it later when I’ve got everything finalised. But in the meantime, I’d love to know what you’d like to see from me ☺️ let me know in the comments!

I created this little guy for the first tier which will be called ‘Sproutlings’ 🌱

I’ve been so fun working on a little rebrand, and thinking of how I want everything to feel. I love world building, and so I’ve decided to call it my Creative Burrow and really lean into the whimsy, because that’s what inspires me most! I just want it to feel like a cozy inviting creative space 🥰 This Sproutling character is loosely inspired by my Son, and I think it turned out so cute!

How has it already been a week since my last post! I can’t believe how fast flew by this year!

I want to say hi and welcome all the new people who have followed me recently, as there’s quite a few new people here 👋 so I thought I’d do a little introduction post, and what better way to do that than a whimsical little self portrait style illustration. This is me, If I was a tiny forest sprite living in a woodland burrow with my pet ladybug 🐞

If you’re new here, Hi I’m Ocean 👋🍄
I’m a children’s book illustrator living in Wales and I spend most of my time drawing cozy little worlds for children’s books.

I’m a mum to one very energetic toddler, a dog who thinks he’s a toddler, and a chinchilla who is definitely the boss. I love nature, I love storytelling, and honestly… I just love making art.
If you’re into woodland creatures, finding magic in everyday moments, and ✨cozy escapism✨ you’re in the right place, I’m so happy you’re here!

I’ll be doing a shop update very soon with Peachtober prints and some stickers soon, so I’ll definitely need your help choosing what to include! I’ll probs post a poll soon, so keep your eyes open for that!

Also, if you’ve followed me for a long time you might know that I’ve wanted to open a patre0n page for ages! … This little forest-sprite version of me is actually going to be the header for my Patre0n page 👀✨ I’m cooking up some really fun tier ideas and rewards that I can’t wait to share soon! But I’d love to know if there’s anything specific that you’d like to see from me? I’m currently thinking full in-depth children’s book processes, real time draw with me videos, behind the scenes, procreate brushes, physical rewards etc ✨ leave a comment to let me know! I’m so excited to finally be opening one!

31. GHOST 👻 ☕️

There’s nothing more quintessentially autumn than enjoying a pumpkin spiced latte with your besties!
I have really been looking forward to today’s prompt, I love any excuse to draw some cute ghosties! 👻

We did it! Today is the FINAL day of , I can’t believe I actually managed to somehow complete every day! I feel so proud… and sleepy 😴

I’ve said it before, but genuinely thank you so much for the love and support this month! I don’t think I’d have found the motivation on the hard days, without all your lovely comments cheering me towards the finish line! I’m really excited about what’s next, now that I’m back posting regularly again.

I’m going to plan a little shop update soon with all the artwork as prints, possibly some stickers too and a little secret something that I’ve got planned 🤫 so if you’d love to get a print, or sticker of your favourite piece then keep your eye out for updates 👀

30. WHISKER 🐈‍⬛🧪🧙‍♀️

… and the final ingredient for the potion, is 1 whisker ✨ But I don’t think mittens is very happy about that!

I decided to change it up for today’s prompt. I really wanted to draw something Halloween themed.

29. SOUR 🍋🧊

Twig has set up a fresh lemonade stand, who wants a glass? 🍋

This one gives me summery vibes, which is quite a contrast to the UK weather this week!

I’m quite pleased with how this illustration turned out, especially considering that I had to rush it a little bit. As it’s the end of Peachtober, I’m now creating the illustrations on the day prior to posting them. At the start I was a week ahead… but it’s catching up to me now 😂 Only 2 days left though! I can’t believe it’s been almost a full month of creating these artworks!

I’m so grateful for all the lovely comments! They are motivating me to complete the final TWO days of this art challenge 👏🏻

28. BUTTON 🪡🧵🐭

This little mouse has found a cosy spot for a nap 💤

There’s something so nostalgic about a biscuit tin full of sewing supplies. So I totally understand why this little fella has chosen to nap here, let’s just hope he doesn’t get poked by a pin!

I really enjoyed this illustration, it’s always so fun to draw clutter, I think it’s those details that make a scene feel lived in!

27. AXE 🪓

Not going to lie, I was sort of dreading this prompt. If you’re familiar with my work, you’ll probably be able to tell that an ‘Axe’ isn’t typically the sort of thing I’d draw. BUT that’s the whole reason I love participating in these art challenges, they force me out of my comfort zone!

What better animal to need an axe than a beaver 🦫 I mean, can you imagine the splinters they must get from munching through trees?! 🫣
Just a quick little character study for today’s prompt as it’s been a busy week. But, despite it being a quick one I think he turned out pretty cute!
