We are first generation farmers/smallholders located on the edge of the wonderful Cambrian Mountains in mid Wales. We follow the principles of regenerative agriculture on our 5 acres on which we keep pigs, sheep, hens, ducks and bees, as well as growing fruit, vegetables (for us) and cut flowers for retail. We're developing a number of enterprises to become more self sufficient and to see what wor

ks and what we enjoy doing. If/when any become economically viable, we'll expand and plough the profits back into the farm and put some towards renovating our 1930s property which needs (a lot of) modernising. Diolch

Happy Birthday Bambi! 4 years old today 🎈

Back story: Bambi was our very first purchase at Llandovery livestock auction not long after we moved to Wales and one of the first sheep that arrived on our smallholding. She was only a day old and unfortunately her mother hadn’t survived and we were the only people to bid for her.

Everyone said we’d made a mistake and will regret it. (Well the bottle feeding at all hours for the next few months was interesting.) Anyway, she sat quietly next to us (like a cat) for the remainder of the auction during which time she became a bit of a celebrity with people taking pics of her and saying how well behaved she was 🤗

4 years on, she’s become the leader of the rest of our small flock and is a wonderful character to have around. Enjoy your day Bambi ❤️

It was Cora’s birthday this week and she’d asked if we could take her to visit a tulip field. Well her wish is our command (and it so happened to align with my recent interest in tulips🌷🤣)

We ended up at Tulleys Tulip Garden, Hatton, Warwickshire to see an amazing display of tulips of all colours and varieties!

On a blustery wet day, what better than to receive this inside our honesty stand!

So a shout out and a huge thank you to all our wonderful and loyal customers who buy our flowers, eggs and honey, day in, day out (plus whatever else we can manage to produce.)

Made the most of the dry day today to revamp the budget polytunnel we have that has survived a year. The welded joints were no match for the Winter storms.

We’ll see if our new efforts last a bit longer 🤞

Success! Well kind of.

First batch wasn’t fully set (❌) so reboiled and did the ‘wrinkle test’ and watched 105C like a hawk (IYKYK 👀)

The marmalade peel is better dispersed throughout the jar (✅) which didn’t occur the first time around.

Taste test tomorrow as it needs 24-48hrs to fully set.

If you’ve tried making marmalade how did it go for you? Any top tips?
