🇫🇷 Well, Lille… you’ve been amazing!

My legs hurt, my feet hurt—actually, everything hurts! 🤣 But it was completely worth it.

We had one little mishap when some toe-rag stole one of our empty trollies—but we didn’t let that dampen the mood. We simply upgraded our loading techniques and carried on! 💪😂

What an incredible few days: miles walked, countless treasures discovered and one very full van heading back to Cornwall. 🚐

Keep your eyes peeled—lots of beautiful French finds will be arriving at Birch very soon! 🌿🇫🇷

🇫🇷 GOOD MORNING FROM LILLE! 🇫🇷

A very late night turned into a very early morning… and our feet are definitely feeling it! 😂

But WOW — what an incredible flea market! The atmosphere, the endless stalls and all those beautiful French treasures waiting to be discovered. We’re tired, buzzing and having the best time!

Now, where’s the coffee? ☕️ Let the treasure hunting continue! 🪑🏺🖼️

🇫🇷 TODAY’S THE DAY! 🚐

The Birch sourcing road trip officially begins…

Truro → Dover → Calais → Lille

We’re heading to the incredible Braderie de Lille — and this one definitely isn’t for the faint-hearted… 😅

From 8am Saturday right through until 11pm Sunday, that’s a solid 39 HOURS of vintage hunting!

Armed with comfortable shoes, plenty of coffee and an empty van, we’re ready for a weekend of rummaging, bargaining, searching and hopefully uncovering some amazing French treasures to bring back to Birch. 🪑🏺🖼️

The full adventure runs Friday through to Monday, so expect plenty of miles, a ferry crossing, questionable amounts of caffeine… and hopefully a much fuller van on the journey home! 😂

Wish us luck — I think we’re going to need it!

🚐 VAN FULL. TREASURES FOUND. BIRCH BOUND. 🌿

Another successful day of rummaging, digging and finding those pieces you just don’t see everywhere.
From old pots and baskets to furniture, artwork and a few wonderfully weird finds… the van is packed and ready to head back to Birch.

Now comes the fun part — unloading it all! 😂
New stock incoming… ready and waiting for you.

Flea days… where “I’m just having a look” quickly turns into “how are we fitting all this in the van?” 😅

Early starts, strong coffee, a lot of rummaging and the occasional questionable purchase that somehow ends up being the best find of the day.

That’s the fun of sourcing for Birch — you never quite know what you’re coming home with.

Old, unusual, full of character… exactly how we like it. 🌿

Birch will be closed 28th–29th August while we head out hunting for fresh vintage finds and one-of-a-kind pieces.

TWO NEW OLD PINE BEAUTIES!

Two very different pieces, both packed with character.

The first — a gorgeous old pine cupboard with glazed lower doors, perfect for hiding away the bits you don’t want on show while displaying the ones you do.

The second — a beautifully simple glazed pine display cupboard, with those lovely arched doors and original timeworn feel. Perfect for crockery, books, linens or all those treasures that deserve to be seen.

Neither is perfect. Neither is meant to be. The knocks, marks and years of wear are exactly why we love them. 🤎

Not everything about sourcing is glamorous… 😅

Sometimes you find an absolute beauty and then realise you’ve got your work cut out!

This gorgeous vintage French chair has all the curves, character and charm — it just needs bringing back to life.

Next challenge: reupholstering it myself. 🪑✂️

Wish me luck… I think I might need it! 😂
