Ever wonder what goes into a truly clean candle?
Lately, I’ve been diving into why the base matters just as much as the scent, especially when you use pure essential oils like I do. Standard waxes either burn too hot (destroying the delicate therapeutic benefits of the oils) or carry a heavy footprint.
That’s why I’m completely sold on a rapeseed and coconut wax blend.
Here is why this specific duo is a game-changer for essential oils:
🌱 It protects the scent: Coconut wax has a super low melting point. This means it pools gently at a lower temperature, letting the essential oils evaporate into the room beautifully without getting scorched or losing their benefits.
🌱 The perfect texture: Pure rapeseed is incredibly sustainable (it grows right here in the UK!) but it can be a bit rigid. Blending it with creamy coconut wax gives the candle a flawless, smooth top without needing synthetics to add texture.
🌱 A clean burn: No soot, no petroleum and no ties to the mass deforestation often linked to soy production. Just a slow, clean, local burn.
Do you burn plant-based essential oil candles? It took me many months to perfect the natural scent throw. What's your experience with them?
