A window to Madagascar...

Did a little jump for joy when I realised I had two very different pieces of tin that connected with one another - which inspired me to create a dual layer tin with a little spy hole window.

A little fact about lemurs: The ring-tailed lemur is native to Madagascar and is instantly recognisable by its long tail, marked with alternating black and white bands. These lemurs spend a surprising amount of time on the ground, unlike many other primates that live predominantly in trees.

Finally, sorted out some photography woes and found a new background that fits some of my darker products already sitting in our garage! It's one of the spare floor tiles from our home and that perfect meld of matt finish and dark organic tones. I've now a batch of tea tin earrings and necklaces I'm slowly adding to Etsy and these have been listed this afternoon. I love the vintage image I've decoupaged on the reverse - from an old book on Exploration. Available - https://thecreakingdoorco.etsy.com/listing/4605069649

Ahoy! Perhaps the kitschiest vintage tin I've worked with in a while - tea cups and saucers, tea pots, big galleon ships and house plants all on the same box with a black background giving off some serious 1970's vibes. I've selected here a pretty tea cup and plate with ship and paired with two salvaged enamel fish that have been kicking around my studio for maybe decade? The colours just match the plates perfectly. And no nautical themed necklace would be complete without an anchor and some Seaham seaglass. The chain has a rope design too! Available -

Spooky season is here and what a great find here at Otty Lake but one of the weirdest mushrooms around - a Stinkhorn! It grows from a sack also known as a Witches Egg which is edible if you can catch them early enough. This one wasn’t stinking just yet, but the flies hanging out on it knew the good times are just around the corner

Woke this morning to a photo from my husband Christopher Horley who’d got up early to walk Wh***ey the black lab, alerting me to some Lawyer’s Wigs down the road from the cottage! For someone who doesn’t like mushrooms, he’s becoming a great mushroom hunter! I was able to get out there and harvest a little batch for a great Thanksgiving breakfast while we prepare the turkey dinner for later. Yum! 😋

⚓️ Ahoy, Sailor! 🌈 A little nautical nostalgia with a boho twist.

This one-of-a-kind assemblage cuff brings together a wonderfully eclectic crew of rescued treasures: a flea-market brass *Anchor* scroll, a floral vintage tea tin, a ship illustration from an old reference book, a patinated brass anchor and a coral charm cast by hand in my studio.

Rainbow glass salvaged from broken jewellery, a rustic scallop button and colourful antique Prosser trade beads add texture, history and a splash of colour. Each fragment has travelled a different path to find its way into this wearable piece of art.

I love giving forgotten objects a new purpose, letting their past lives sail on in an entirely new form. ♻️✨

A little maritime mischief for anyone who likes their jewellery with a story to tell.

Adornment in Service. I've repurposed one half of a Victorian era lost nurses belt buckle as a centrepiece for this black and white necklace, with delicate scrolls and engraving. I've paired it with black polish onyx beads, a broken antique cameo brooch with a lady wearing a traditional head dress and finished it with 1940's - 1950's Austrian pressed glass beads in bicone designs.

Lots of lost and broken disparate objects bought together in this piece I've called Devotion Set In Stone. I'd had weird cross key and cherub artifact lying on my bench for a while. It clearly had a souvenir spoon or wax seal (maybe?) sawn off the end and after a bit of research, I discovered it was the Papal Coat of Arms. So a souvenir from the Vatican? It fit perfectly into a hunk of multifaceted labradorite I'd reclaimed and I was able to solder it to a stainless steel wire that I could then hang other relics of the past - a Silver Victorian Threepence from 1854, a French furniture antique key and a Krobo glass African trade bead in a flower shape. The abalone and mother of pearl beaded chain is 26 inches in length with a side clasp so you can adjust the length. Available - https://thecreakingdoorco.etsy.com/listing/4584597997
