Not every beautiful kitchen needs to be perfect.
In fact, for this particular kitchen, the imperfections were exactly what our clients wanted.
Inspired by something they spotted while shopping for flooring, this wonderfully adventurous couple came to us with an idea that was a little different from our usual projects.
And we loved it.
We experimented with several finishes in our workshop, creating samples ranging from smooth and uniform to something altogether more rustic.
Their favourite? The one that celebrated every knot, shake and natural characteristic of the oak.
Using painted character oak, we developed a finish that allowed the timber's individuality to shine through. Nothing too polished. Nothing too perfect. Just beautiful natural material, full of texture and personality.
And then there's that extraordinary stone. Luana Multicolour marble, with its dramatic, swirling patterns, reminds us of the surface of Jupiter. A striking contrast to the warmth and rustic charm of the cabinetry.
Add two iconic range cookers, a bold blue island and carefully chosen finishing details, and the result is a kitchen unlike anything we've created before.
Our clients were decisive, adventurous and an absolute pleasure to work with. We had just as much fun experimenting in the workshop as we did seeing the finished kitchen come together.
Because true bespoke craftsmanship isn't about making every kitchen look the same. It's about making each one feel entirely its own.
We'd love to know what you think. Would you embrace the knots, shakes and natural imperfections, or do you prefer a more refined timber finish?
