🍐✨ Perfect Homemade Quince Jam
Quince season calls for homemade jam — and this beautifully fragrant preserve is one of my absolute favourites.
Fresh quince transforms as it cooks, developing a gorgeous colour and wonderfully aromatic, slightly tart flavour. And unlike many traditional jams, this version doesn’t need equal quantities of fruit and sugar.
Even better, the ingredient list couldn’t be simpler. 🙌
🛒 YOU’LL NEED:
🍐 1kg fresh quince
🍯 500g cane sugar OR honey
🍋 2 lemons
💧 230ml water
There’s no need to peel the quince — simply wash it well, remove the core and chop or grate it before cooking.
The result is a beautifully textured homemade preserve that can be enjoyed in so many ways:
🍞 Spread over toast or sourdough
🧀 Pair with mature cheese or goat’s cheese
🥞 Spoon over pancakes
🥐 Add to pastries and desserts
🍖 Serve alongside roast pork, chicken or turkey
🎁 Pop into jars for a lovely homemade gift
It takes around 40 minutes from start to finish, making it such a satisfying way to preserve this wonderful seasonal fruit.
