From construction sites to RHS Chelsea showstoppers...

We were proud to see Burlington Stone feature in two award-winning gardens at RHS Chelsea Flower Show 2026, both of which were awarded RHS Silver-Gilt Medals.

The Eden Project Bring Me Sunshine Garden by Harry Holding-and Alex Michaelis drew inspiration from the landscapes and communities of Morecambe Bay. Burlington Stone's Baycliff Caulfeild limestone helped connect the garden to the geology and character of Cumbria's coastline.

The Boodles Garden, designed by Dr Catherine MacDonald of Landform took inspiration from the Historic Royal Palaces, combining architectural structure, rich planting and finely crafted detailing. Burlington Stone British limestone was used throughout the scheme, bringing natural texture and timeless character to the design.

These before-and-after images show the remarkable transformation from construction phase to finished show garden.

Congratulations again to the designers, landscapers, growers and project teams who brought these beautiful spaces to life.

When we said iconic buildings by Burlington we meant it. But which one?

From high in the Lake District fells to the heart of the capital, Cumbrian slate shapes BOTH of these most instantly recognisable British landmarks. Tower Bridge is crowned with Westmorland Green, while centuries of history within the Tower of London lie beneath Kirkby Blue Grey.

Recently named the UK’s most popular attraction, the Natural History Museum is a building that earns its status.

Part of our Iconic Buildings by Burlington series…

Designed by Alfred Waterhouse, it’s a true Victorian icon — and the roofscape is a big part of that impact. Strong pitches, layered forms and detailed ridgelines, all brought together with heritage Cumbrian slate built to last.

Proof that when you start with the right material, you end up with something timeless.

Iconic Buildings by Burlington - The Waldorf Hilton, London.

The Waldorf Hilton London opened in 1908 and quickly became part of London’s social fabric. Dances, political dinners, film premieres, society weddings — the sort of place where things tend to happen.
Over the years, guests have included Charlie Chaplin, Elizabeth Taylor and Judy Garland, along with generations of politicians, performers and visiting dignitaries. The faces change. The decades roll on.

What doesn’t change is what’s overhead.

The Waldorf is roofed in Westmorland Green slate, laid in a traditional random diminishing course. It’s Cumbrian slate formed some 400 million years ago — long before London, long before the motorcar, long before any of the names on the guestbook.

Since 1908, everything that has happened at the Waldorf has happened under one roof.

A Cumbrian roof made with heritage Westmorland Green Slate.

You're Welcome.

Lucy Cavendish said:
“Burlington Stone’s reputation has always rested on the skill, judgement and pride of the people who work here. Andrew and Derek represent the very best of that tradition. Their knowledge has been built block by block over decades, and it is that depth of experience which continues to set Burlington apart.”
