Jumping on that 2016 trend bandwagon!
2016 was the year opened, and the year I started taking my creative career seriously. It’s mad how time flies. I met so many wonderful people at The Hotwalls, including my bestest studio buddy .
It’s amazing how people can be thrust into your life and become a permanent fixture. We were asked if we wanted to share a space together after having only met for about 10 minutes; we signed the contract while the studio was still a building site! I’m so glad we took that risk, I’m not sure what life would look like now without her.
I spent so many hours behind that sewing machine back then, individually stitching and embroidering homewares. I actually got to the point where I was sick of sewing and embroidery, who knew that 10 years later I’d be embroidering still, only now for other people? I still have that same machine; it’s a total workhorse and I use it to sew labels into all of your lovely garments.
How was this 10 years ago? It feels like a lifetime ago and just yesterday all at once
