This is your yearly reminder to make sure you know where your Toby is and how to use a Water key!

🤷‍♀️𝗪𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝗶𝘀 𝗮 𝘄𝗮𝘁𝗲𝗿 𝘁𝗼𝗯𝘆: A water toby is the main water valve that supplies your home and is usually found near the point where the main water supply enters your home.

❓𝗟𝗼𝗰𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻: The toby is typically located at the boundary of your property and is the point where the council plumbing ends and your personal responsibility for the plumbing begins. It is not always clear which is yours it could also be located, in your driveway, across the road or in the middle of the road.

✅𝗖𝗼𝗻𝗱𝗶𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻: Is it easily accessible? Can you open the toby cover? Is it blocked by something?

🔧𝗛𝗼𝘄: To turn off the water you will need a 𝗦𝗰𝗼𝘁𝘁𝗶𝘀𝗵 𝗽𝗮𝘁𝘁𝗲𝗿𝗻𝗲𝗱 𝗵𝗲𝗮𝘃𝘆 𝗱𝘂𝘁𝘆 𝘄𝗮𝘁𝗲𝗿 𝗸𝗲𝘆. Once the cover is opened use the water key to turn the toby a quarter turn to switch off the water supply. After the work has been done reverse the turn to put the water back on then close up the cover again.

🛀Do you know how to clean your bathroom properly?

Here are some tips:

🚽If using bleach to clean the toilet, don't let it sit in the bowl with the lid down that will cause the yellow staining you have been trying to get rid of!

💧Clean your brassware with hot soapy water, rinse properly and dry off to keep your brassware in tip top condition.

🚫Avoid any abrasive materials when cleaning as these will break down the surfaces of your bathroom products.

🩶With fitted furniture, ensure the surfaces are kept dry to avoid water damage and discolouration.

🚿Use a squeegee on your shower glass and walls to remove excess water and soap residue, this will prevent streaks, hard water build up and reduce mould growth extending the life of your shower materials.
