The last statistic shocked me a bit if i’m being honest!! 😳

We’re halfway through the year now and I’ve been having lots of spreadsheet fun! 🤓 The longer that the shop is open, I really enjoy looking through all the numbers and trying to find any emerging patterns…. and for full disclosure, minus the last stat there are absolutely none! 😂🤣

🔹 I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again… anything poo related sells! I know my demographic and my customer loves a bit of toilet humour! 💩

🔹 Before I opened the shop I knew that some days would be slower than others, it’s all part of owning a shop, but WOW! On my worst day I took £34.40. The following day I took triple that amount in less than 20minutes… Make it make sense! 🤯

🔹 Our teeny tiniest visitor so far was only 3 days and it made me feel all fuzzy inside when the family told me that my shop was the first place they’d visited as a family of 4! 🥹

🔹 Pombears are a firm snacky favourite at Pen & Pearl Studio! Often bought as bribes to lure little ones into the pram and avoid any meltdowns when they leave! 🤣

🔹 I’ve only recently delved into the spreadsheets to figure this out and until now, I thought that the coffee shop would be a much higher percentage than the gift shop but I was very pleasantly surprised that month on month so far, they only vary very slightly! 🤩

Back with another monthly round up! Here’s what we got up to in May! 💜

Loads of new toys got added to our play area and the diggers in particular have gone down a treat with our regular little visitors!

We have a ‘take you daughter to work’ day which was interesting! Safe to say she ate a lot of marshmallow bribes that day and we both slept well that night! 😅

We’ve started offering iced coffees and also introduced a few specials drinks… did someone say Biscoff?! 👀

Our new badges have been very well received! Loads more designs for these are in the pipeline!

We’ve added a hopscotch to the shop floor and everyone is loving this… adults included! I might make it a new rule that you can only use the toilet if you hopscotch your way to it?!?🤔

I’ve finally got round to adding a little window display in to show off some of our wonderful new products!

I had an exciting trip to the wholesalers and found lots of new sauces and syrups for drinks!! 🤩

It’s been a busy one… very much looking forward to June for a holiday and much needed break! 🤭

New books have dropped and this delivery did not disappoint!!

We’d practically sold out of all of our kids books so I’ve replaced some of our bestsellers and added a few more into the mix. The newest additions are not to be missed!!

I know you’re not meant to judge a book by it’s cover, but it’s hard not to when they all look this good!

Sorry for the last minute change of plans but I’ve decided we’re going to be closed on Bank Holiday Monday! (25th May)

The weather has been glorious this weekend so we’re taking the opportunity to have some family time, have a day off and we’ll be back to business as usual on Tuesday once we’ve had our fix of sunshine and ice creams! 🍦☀️

We’re a new business which opened on Crown Street in Hebden Bridge in September 2025 and we are a family friendly coffee shop and colour loving gift shop! We’re a one stop shop for all your caffeine and gift buying needs! ☕️ 🎁

So, here’s 6 reasons why you need to come and check out our shop!

1. We serve really good coffee! We’re always getting compliments on our coffees and we’re proud to serve coffee.
2. We have a little role play area which is full of gorgeous wooden toys to keep your little ones entertained whilst you attempt to have 5 minutes to yourself!
3. And it doesn’t matter if the play area gets trashed whilst this happens! That’s what it’s there for and we’ll tidy it up once you’ve finished.
4. Our gift shop if full of lovely things! Things that are perfect for gifting, things that you didn’t know you needed, things that’ll make you smile! If you need a last minute card, we’ve got you covered!
5. We’re all about making your life as a parent easier, s we’ve got activities to keep little ones entertained at the table. There’s colouring, play doh and water colouring to occupy them if they don’t fancy going in the play area.
6. We’re dog friendly because why should the furry family members be left out! You’re more than welcome to bring your dog along when you come and visit us!

What on earth is going on with this weather May?! ☔️

It’s been so quiet today and frankly I’m not surprised because I certainly wouldn’t want to potter around Hebden Bridge in this weather either!

I thought I’d put my time to good use and crack on with a window display because I’m fed up of it being empty. I hear so many people walk past saying ‘it’s just for kids’ or ‘it’s a craft shop’ so I thought it was about time i put some actual product in the window so that people can see some of the lovely things that we stock!

Before I opened the shop I thought that I’d be creating beautiful window installations all the time and that could not be further from the reality!! I actually find the window a bit of a pain and it’s always at the bottom of my to do list to freshen it up! 🥴 🫣

Anyway, I can tick this off the to do list for the time being …until next time!

Don’t say I didn’t warn you!! 🤭

But seriously, I can’t promise that you won’t have the best time, eat too much cake, drink too much coffee (in peace whilst your little one has too much fun!)

We’re open all weekend from 10am until 3pm, cake counter is fully stocked, the shop is bursting with gorgeous gifts and the play area is ready to be untidied!! 🤭

IT’S FRIDAY!! 🥳

Join me for a busy day in the shop (disclaimer, I definitely forgot to record most of the middle section of the day! 🫣)

There’s been lots of coffee and babyccinos today, shop volume was extra loud at times and so many Christmas pressies being bought (you organised bunch!) it’s been a blast and I can’t wait to do it all again tomorrow! 🤭
