Broadway Tower is one of those wonderful Cotswold landmarks that always seems to have a little bit of magic about it. I wanted to capture that special moment when the sun is going down, filling the sky and surrounding landscape with beautiful colour.

I loved painting the contrast between the historic tower, the Cotswold countryside and those rich sunset tones. There’s something very special about seeing such a familiar landmark transformed by the evening light.

There’s something magical about spotting a kingfisher. 💙🧡

That sudden flash of electric blue skimming low over the water, the unmistakable orange breast, and then - if you’re lucky - a moment of stillness as it perches and watches the river below.

Despite their brilliant colours, kingfishers can be surprisingly difficult to spot. Often, all you see is that fleeting streak of blue before they disappear from view again.

It’s that combination of vivid colour, speed and elusiveness that makes the kingfisher such a special British bird - and one I never tire of drawing.
