So I am not well. Might be the dreaded ‘C’. The shop is closed until I am better. I’ll post when I’m due to open again. Apologies for any inconvenience.

Delighted to be stocking this new yarn. Rich colours and stylish textured garment patterns for intermediate knitters. A longer length ‘sloppy joe’ jumper too for those of you looking for easy wearing warmth this autumn.

Saturday 29th May - apologies, StitchUpp is closed unexpectedly today due to post-vaccine effects.

The shop is also closed next Tuesday - as usual after bank holidays.

Normal opening hours resume on Wednesday 2nd June from 10am.

Happy Bank Holiday weekend everyone.

Due to the Stay At Home order, StitchUpp is trading in a very limited way during lockdown. The best route to contact me is via email. The landline does not forward reliably to another phone, and to be honest keeping track of requests is much easier by email to [email protected].

If ordering yarn, please include in your request the amount of yarn (in metres if possible) you need, and its weight e.g. DK, Aran etc as well as the colours you would like to consider. If you have already identified a pattern it would be useful to know its name, as I may be able to look it up.

Like John Lewis, I have taken the decision not to offer click and collect. I have web-based payment facilities, and I am very happy to deliver items or send them by post.

I can send out photos of products, or if you would like an exploratory chat I can very easily set up a video conference.

I hope those who have been vaccinated are feeling a little safer, and we can now all enjoy slightly lighter evenings.

Spring will be here soon! Take care. Jane

STATUS UPDATE: Whatever the Covid-19 lockdown position for non-essential retail shops, StitchUpp will continue to be here to deliver customer service and products. Please email [email protected] to join the Newsletter circulation list, or make an enquiry.

If the shop is closed, plans are in place to continue to trade using technology, though it might take a week or so to put them into action. That's not going to be a full-blown online shop listing all 7,000 odd of our product lines, which is not achievable as a very small business. It should, however, mean you can get advice and supplies whether or not Rutland is in lockdown.

The best way to safeguard businesses is to reduce the number of Covid-19 cases locally as much as possible, so we can all get out and about again. We can only do our best in these trying times to achieve what is asked of us.

We are facing a hard few months, but spring will come again. I strongly believe you need to see and feel fibres and fabrics, to best appreciate them and make the best buying decisions. I look forward to being able to welcome you back to the shop when the time is right.

With all best wishes, Jane
