Project Completion: The Bay Horse, Pickering 🍻

We're delighted to share the completed refurbishment of The Bay Horse in Pickering, which we proudly handed over in July!

This full internal refurbishment has given the much-loved pub a fresh new look, while retaining its traditional charm and character.

The transformation included new flooring, lighting, refreshed fixed seating and decorations throughout, alongside subtle upgrades to the back bar. Carefully selected bric-a-brac celebrating Pickering's local history brings together the perfect blend of modern and traditional design.

A standout feature is the new sports-focused mezzanine, complete with darts, pool and dedicated areas to relax with a drink. Outside, a brand-new drinking area and pergola, complemented by lighting and planters, provide an inviting space for guests to enjoy. Updated external signage completes the transformation!

🐝 The Beehive, Carlisle - Complete! ✅

We’re pleased to share the completed refurbishment of The Beehive in Carlisle, delivered for Greene King Brewery.

Dating back to the mid-19th century and first recorded as a pub in 1872, The Beehive has a long history in the local community and remains a popular gathering spot for Carlisle United fans on match days. ⚽️

Our design focused on refreshing and enhancing the character of the pub while creating a welcoming, contemporary space for customers to enjoy.

The works included:
• Full refurbishment of the WCs
• New signage scheme and external decorations
• Internal redecoration throughout
• A mix of new and retained lighting and furniture
• New external furniture to the front of the pub
• New back-bar fitting
• A brand-new darts area

A great result that brings a fresh new look to a well-established Carlisle venue while respecting its history and character.

A brilliant evening at the Fit-Out Awards UK 2026! ✨

We were incredibly proud to be shortlisted across three categories:

• Fit-Out Designer of the Year – Rising Star
• Fit-Out Project of the Year – Hospitality (Hotel)
• Fit-Out Project of the Year – Hospitality (Bar)

While we didn’t take home an award this time, being recognised alongside so many talented people and outstanding projects across the industry is something we’re hugely proud of.

A big thank you to the Fit Out Awards UK team for a great evening, and congratulations to all of this year’s winners and finalists. Very well deserved! 👏

Another project complete! ✅

We had the pleasure of handing over The Rudds Arms in Middlesbrough, on behalf of Greene King Brewery, after completing an extensive refurbishment.

This refurbishment has given the pub a fresh new look while retaining the character of a building that dates back to the early 19th century.

Externally, the works included full decorations and a new signage scheme by Ashleigh Signs, new decking and loose furniture, along with the removal of conifers at the entrance to create a more open and welcoming arrival.

Inside, the pub and social areas have been refreshed throughout, including sanded and stained existing timber flooring, new carpet, a mix of new and refurbished furniture, new lighting and a new mesh screen with fixed seating to create a dedicated function area. Minor upgrades to the back fitting included new tiling and illuminated raised bottle steps.

💡Fun Fact! The Rudds Arms takes its name from the Rudd family, who purchased the Marton estate in 1786, adding another layer of local history to this longstanding Middlesbrough pub.

✨ Project Complete: The Welcome Inn, Skegness 🍺

We’re pleased to share the completed refurbishment of The Welcome Inn in Skegness, on behalf of Punch

The project gave this prime-location pub a complete interior refresh, bringing a new lease of life to its distinctive spaces, including the sports bar, lounge, main bar and dining area.

The transformation included new flooring throughout, feature bar tiling, carpets, full redecoration, wallpaper and panelling, alongside new furniture, lighting, curtains and finishing touches throughout. The dedicated sports area was also refreshed with a new pool table and darts board, while the pub’s large b**r garden and children’s play area continue to offer plenty of space outdoors.

A huge thank you to Lucy Woodhouse from Punch, Chris Addy from Togel Contractors and Oscar Wightman from 29Costmgmt for their work and collaboration on the project.

We’d also like to thank all of our fantastic suppliers who helped bring the scheme together. Your support, craftsmanship and attention to detail were greatly appreciated.

And judging by opening day, the refurbishment went down very well. The pub was so busy it nearly sold out of b**r! 🍻

The Stag, Kimberley: Completed! ✅

A full decorative refurbishment designed to retain the traditional character and integrity of the pub, while introducing a fresh, contemporary feel.

Warm reds and earthy greens bring richness and warmth back into the interiors, complemented by an extended bar servery, a new fixed seating layout, new and refurbished furniture, updated lighting and new carpets throughout.

Outside, the b**r garden has also been enhanced with a new stretch tent and play equipment, working alongside the existing external bar and kitchen to create a welcoming space for all ages. A family-friendly, wholesome pub designed to be enjoyed year-round.

A huge thank you to Azeem Iqbal and Harry Bourne at Punch as well as the SODA Build team, for helping bring the project to life.

Meet Carl Tunnicliffe, our Senior Contracts Manager! 👷‍♂️📋

Carl plays a key role in the successful delivery of our projects, overseeing contracts from the early stages through to completion and ensuring everything runs smoothly along the way.

Working closely with clients, contractors and project teams, Carl helps manage programmes, coordinate resources and tackle challenges as they arise.

We asked Carl what he loves most about his career, and this is what he had to say:

💬 "I love being involved with every project from the initial tender stage right through to successful delivery. Having worked in this industry for many years, I know that every project brings unique challenges. I always promote the philosophy that we can only achieve zero-snag handovers by truly working as a team. Hearing a client walk in on handover day and simply say 'WOW' is the ultimate testament to the high standards we strive for every day here at SODA Group."

Another SODA Design & Build project complete ✨

We’re delighted to share the finished transformation of The Tiger Inn, Beverley. A Grade II listed pub that needed a considered refresh to revive the space while retaining its original character and charm.

Working across both interior design and fit-out, our team reimagined the pub to create distinct bar, lounge, and dining areas, each with its own identity while still feeling part of one cohesive scheme.

The refurbishment included new quality timber flooring and carpet, a complete decorative scheme with feature wallpapers, a mix of new and existing furniture, and updated lighting throughout. All delivered with careful attention to the building’s listed features and heritage.

This project is a great example of our SODA Design & Build offering. Clients can work with us for Design, Build, or bring both services together for a fully integrated approach from concept through to completion.
