Maureen Mary Gelsthorpe (nee Jennings)
1st February 1935 - 15th August 2026

Formerly of Outwood and Stanley, Maureen passed away peacefully on 15th August at Walton Manor Care Home after a battle with dementia and following a short illness, aged 91 years.

The beloved wife of the late Roy Gelsthorpe, loving mum to Andrea, mother in law to David and devoted grandma to Alex.

Maureen's funeral service will take place on Wednesday 16th September at 12:40pm at Wakefield Crematorium.

Family flowers only please. Donations in lieu will be for Wakefield Hospice.

On July 29th in Wakefield Hospice, aged 82 years,
GERRY of Wrenthorpe, beloved Husband of Pat dearly loved Dad of Stuart and Georgina and also a much loved Brother, Uncle and Cousin.

A service of celebration for Gerry’s life will take place 12 noon Wednesday September 2nd at Wakefield Cathedral. Donations in lieu of flowers would be gratefully received for Wakefield Hospice and Wakefield Cathedral for which a plate will be provided.

Charles passed away peacefully at Wakefield Hospice with his loving family by his side on Wednesday 29th July 2026, aged 73.

Friends old and new are welcome to join family in a service of celebration in memory of Charles at Pontefract Crematorium on Tuesday 11th August 2026 at 12.20pm, and afterwards at The Kings Croft Hotel, Pontefract, WF8 4HA.

Family flowers only please, donations in lieu of flowers for Wakefield Hospice may be made at the donations box at the service.

Jean Inhester (nee Lilleyman)
27th April 1931 - 22nd July 2026

Jean passed away peacefully at home, wrapped in the love of her family, on 22nd July 2026, aged 95 years. Much loved wife of the late Carl, and dearly loved mum, mum-in-law, grandma, great-grandma, and a dear friend to many. Her love was the quiet light that guided us, and its warmth will stay in our hearts forever.

A service in celebration of Jean’s life will be held at St Oswalds Church, Methley on 13th August at 1:00pm, followed by interment at Whitwood Cemetery, Castleford. All who knew Jean are welcome, as are flowers.

Donations in memory of Jean, would also be gratefully received for Dementia Services at Wakefield Hospice; a box will be available at the service.

Anthony Smith
24th June 1964 - 30th June 2026

Anthony sadly passed away on Tuesday 30th June 2026 in Pinderfields Hospital aged 62 years.
He was loved by many and leaves behind a lot of very good friends.
A Celebration of Anth's life will take place at 10:40am on Friday 7th August at Wakefield Crematorium. Everyone is welcome to continue the celebration at The Pot Oil in Wrenthorpe after the service.
Donations in memory of Anth would be gratefully recevied for Cancer Research UK.

Michael passed away suddenly in Pinderfields Hospital on June 4th aged 78 years. A much loved husband, dad, grandfather and a special friend to many.

A celebration of Michael’s life will take place on July 10th at 10.40am at Wakefield Crematorium, all are welcome after the service at the Hare and Hounds pub in Rothwell. Donations in memory of Michael would be gratefully received for Yorkshire Cancer Research; a box will be available at the service.

On May 15th after a short illness, aged 78 years. Alan of Stanley the beloved son of the late Emma, brother of the late Margaret, also an uncle and dear cousin.

The funeral service will take place 10.45am Tuesday June 9th at St Peters Church, Stanley followed by interment at Stanley Cemetery. Family flowers only please, donations in lieu may be left for St Peters Church funds for which a box will be provided at the service.
