🌸 FEATURED ARTIST: HEDDY KUN — A STORY OF RESILIENCE, COLOUR & BEAUTY 🌸

Some artists paint beautiful pictures. Others have a life story that makes you look at their art a little differently. Heddy Kun is one of those artists.

Born in 1936 in what was then Yugoslavia, Heddy's childhood was marked by the horrors of the Holocaust. Her parents and younger brother were murdered at Auschwitz, while Heddy escaped with the help of her family and survived in Budapest with her grandmother and older brother.

Despite experiencing such unimaginable hardship, Heddy went on to study at the Budapest Academy of Fine Arts, graduating in 1956 before moving to Israel, where she built her life and artistic career.

And what a wonderful legacy she created. ❤️

For decades, Heddy painted with vibrant colours, expressive brushstrokes and a remarkable sensitivity to light. Her work ranges from landscapes and seascapes to beautiful floral paintings, capturing the energy and changing moods of the natural world.

There is something particularly special about her flowers. Bursting with colour and life, they bring a sense of warmth, joy and optimism into a room.

Perhaps knowing a little of her story makes those colours feel even more meaningful.

Heddy's journey reminds us that beauty can still be created after extraordinary hardship, and that art can bring light into our lives in so many different ways.

If your home burned down tomorrow, what would you save?

Your photographs?
Something your children made?
A piece of jewellery?
Or perhaps… a painting?

We often think of art as something we buy because we like the way it looks.

But sometimes, a painting becomes so much more than that.

It can hold a memory of a place.
Remind you of someone you love.
Take you back to a particular time in your life.
Or simply be one of the few things that makes a house feel like home.

I was reminded of this recently when I received a message from Louise.

Years ago, she and her partner bought three Richard Akerman oil paintings at auction for around £30. They didn't know who the artist was — they just loved them.

Years later, after they had separated but remained close friends, the paintings were finally put up in her former partner Robert's small bungalow. They filled an entire wall and were some of the only things he owned that he truly loved.

Then, on 23rd August 2026, a house fire completely destroyed Robert and his daughter Indigo's home.

Thankfully, they escaped safely with their two dogs.

But they lost almost everything — including those paintings.

Louise is now trying to gather some special things for Robert, so that when he eventually has a new home, he has something meaningful to put on his walls again.

And this is why I love what art can do.

It's not always about investment.
It's not always about the artist's name.
And it's certainly not always about how much it costs.

Sometimes it's simply about how it makes you feel.

Robert and Indigo (who suffers with seizures and disabilities) now have the incredibly difficult task of rebuilding their lives after the fire.

Sometimes the best business meetings happen in an artist's studio over tea and homemade brownies.

We had the pleasure of spending an afternoon with talented lino print artist Jessica Rose Jessica Rose , visiting her beautiful studio in Shrewsbury. In the sunshine, with raspberry and white chocolate brownies fresh from the oven, we chatted about creativity, craftsmanship and the stories behind her work.

Jessica showed us the fascinating process of linocutting – carving a design into lino by hand before inking it and printing it on a wonderful old Victorian-style hand-pulled press. Every print carries the character of the handmade process, making each one feel special.

She also explained the difference between etching and linocutting, giving us a real appreciation for the skill, patience and tradition behind these printmaking techniques.

Days like these remind us why we love what we do. Building relationships with artists and understanding the stories behind the artwork helps us share that passion with our collectors.

NEW ARRIVALS – ROBERT LENKIEWICZ 🎨
We've been busy behind the scenes, and we're particularly excited about this new collection.
Robert Lenkiewicz was no ordinary artist.
He was fascinated by people, human behaviour and the stories that often go unnoticed. His huge artistic "Projects" explored subjects ranging from homelessness and old age to love, obsession and death.
He called many of his subjects "the invisible people."
And then there's the fact that he once famously faked his own death! 😂
His life and work were anything but conventional.
There's also a fantastic Birmingham connection. In 1994, Lenkiewicz exhibited at Birmingham's International Convention Centre, attracting more than 35,000 visitors in a single week.
We've now acquired a collection of signed limited edition Robert Lenkiewicz prints, and we're really excited to make them available to collectors.

Well done to the team at Pershore Volunteer Centre for completing the Malvern challenge, if anyone can help with donations for this wonderful cause, helping the elderly with appointments, friendships groups and combatting loneliness, please support them

An older resident in one of the villages around Pershore hasn't left their home in days. No family nearby. No way to get to the shops. No friendly face to see.

Then a Pershore Plus driver pulls up - and everything shifts. A lift to the doctor becomes a conversation. A lunch club becomes a lifeline. A simple journey becomes the moment someone feels seen again.

We create moments like this over 5,000 times a year - tackling loneliness and isolation across Pershore and 40 surrounding villages through transport, activities and community groups that keep people independent, connected and out of crisis.

But the need is growing, and reaching further means we need you. 💛

Just yesterday, our team took on the Malvern Hills Challenge! With an average age of just under 60, we completed 15 peaks over 13 miles in 5 hours, but we crossed that finish line donning our sponsorship T-Shirts!
