To our wonderful customers and friends,
I’m writing this with a heart full of mixed emotions to share some news that is quite difficult to put into words. After 22 incredible years of running Metal Clay Ltd and 8 years of House of Resin, Stuart and I have decided that it is time for us to step back and close the doors of our business.
This decision did not come easily. It has been incredibly emotional, but lately, life has brought us to a bit of a crossroads. As some of you may know, I lost my father at the beginning of the year. That loss, combined with our own health concerns, the volatility we saw in the silver market in January, and a looming deadline of a building lease renewal, forced us to stop, take a minute, breathe, and reflect.
We realised - to our own surprise - that it was time for a change. Running a business like Metal Clay Ltd and House of Resin is an honour and joy, and a true passion, but it takes a lot of energy and doesn’t leave room for what matters most right now: spending precious time with each other, our family, and looking after our health.
When is this happening?
We have always done things a bit different and that is also how we will retire! Because our building lease is coming to an end, our timeline is shorter than we might’ve ideally chosen. The website will close at 9am on Monday 29th June.
What does this mean for you?
While this chapter is ending for us, I don't want you to worry about losing access to the products you love. We are already in warm, positive conversations with potential partners. We will keep you updated.
A note
I realise this email may prompt questions and cause concern. As you can imagine, our decision has had huge effects on our absolutely wonderful team, so please be patient and keep them and their situation in mind as they try to look after you and navigate the next couple of months.
Thank you.
I’m not sure I can find the right words to express what I want to say here. You’ve been more than just customers; many of you have become true friends over the last two decades. We’ve played, learned, changed, and grown together, and it’s been an absolute honour to be a part of it all. Thank you from the bottom of my heart for your loyalty, your incredible support through the highs and lows, and for being part of this 22 year fabulous adventure.
I will truly miss you, our chats, and the genuinely fantastic magical community we’ve built together, but this is the right path for our family. And, I’m hoping it will mean I finally get back into my studio to create again - what started all of this over 22 years ago.
With love and, oh so much, gratitude,
Petra (and Stuart)
