People often think there has to be something wrong with a floor before it gets replaced.

The truth is, sometimes there isn't.

Sometimes the floor is still in good condition. Sometimes it's wearing well. Sometimes it could easily last a few more years.

But sometimes the boss's wife decides she wants to change her flooring from LVT to Carpet! 👩

At that point, the discussion is over.

There are no surveys, no debates, no cost-benefit analyses. The floor's fate is sealed.

Because when the boss's wife says she wants the floor changing, you don't ask why 🤷‍♂️ You don't point out that the old one is perfectly fine. You don't argue 🤐

You simply smile 😃 measure up, and start planning the new one 📏📒

After all, not every flooring project starts with a problem.

Some start with a vision... and some start with the boss's wife………

😂 WE'RE SURE EVERY FLOORING FITTER HAS HEARD THIS ONE BEFORE... 😂

THE CUSTOMER:
"It's only a hallway, it won't take too long will it?..."

THE HALLWAY IN QUESTION:
✅Herringbone pattern throughout
✅Multiple doorways
✅Awkward angles everywhere
✅Plenty of cuts around frames and thresholds
✅Every plank needing to line up perfectly

ALSO THE CUSTOMER:
"You'll be finished before lunch, won't you?" 🤦‍♀️

Don't get us wrong, we love a challenge – but some of those "simple" jobs take a lot more planning and work than people realise.

A herringbone floor like this takes patience, skill and attention to detail to get every line and angle looking just right.

"Whilst the existing flooring has served the home well, we'd like something with a fresh new look that creates more of a feature on the stairs and landing, whilst complementing the existing hallway flooring and colour scheme."

THE FINISHED RESULT:

We've fitted Cormar Carpets Primo Textures in Cornish Clay, finished with a striking black whipped border and complemented with black stair rods from Stairrods UK Ltd.

The neutral tones of the carpet work perfectly with the black detailing, creating a timeless look that feels both modern and welcoming.
