On Saturday I went to a beautiful exhibition with Megan Hatton • Abstract Artist • showing the works of Sarah Cunningham. Sarah was a friend of my brother and sadly passed away unexpectedly so it was very bittersweet to see her work on display knowing that she was such a talent gone so young. The paintings were expressive and deeply emotive and much of her inspiration came from local nature and places such as Wollaton Park. Sarah used to paint over night so we joked that it was maybe how I could fit in more painting around my busy schedule and i felt inspired to paint all weekend as a result.

I visited Palma last weekend and spent some time visiting the studio of Joan Miro. All I can say is wow, the artworks, the architecture, the scenery! It was such an inspiring visit with art deco architecture, Bahaus inspired colours and some great history. It gave me so much inspiration and aspiration for a new studio 😝💙🎨🖼️ have you visited Fundació Miró Mallorca?

I picked up this painting from the framers today and it got me thinking about how far I’ve come with my art. As humans and particularly millenials 😆 we spend a lot of time focused on the goal and fail to recognise that our past selves wouldn’t have even comprehend what we’ve already achieved! At 32 I’d never painted or picked up a paint brush. At 42 I would confidently call myself an artist, how cool is that.

As I mentioned on my stories last week, I started a painting that I really loved in fact it was my favourite abstract that I’ve done for a while. Anyway I took it too far and ruined it so today was the day to fix it! And I’m pretty happy with the result. I love this colour palette and the Summer vibes it’s giving.

The pitfall when painting an abstract or any painting really is not knowing when to stop. This time I did and I love the result. It’s a good job as this painting is for me!!! Maybe that’s why I was so annoyed 😆

Blush Meadow my first original painting from my new collection evokes the gentle, lively energy of a wild spring garden. Soft, muted greens, pinks, and warm peaches flow across the canvas, with smaller floral forms creating a delicate, rhythmic movement.
