Weaving evergreen boughs of fir, pine, juniper, ivy, and holly into an unbroken circle was a poetic act of hope for the ancient Celts & Scandinavians. A promise that life, light, warmth, and the sun would return from the Solstice darkness.

Caroline Caroline Towl and I are delighted to have been invited by Charleston to guide their guests through the process of creating their very own luxuriously wild & creative winter wreath later this month to coincide with the Designer Maker Fair 21st & 22nd November.

We are gathering the most incredible ingredients for the workshops and will also be at the fair with everything you need to bring the outside into your home over the festive period.

Caught between the seasons.

Weaving wreaths and planting paperwhites to fill the house with fragrance come Christmas morning but still enjoying the roses and the dahlias in the garden.

It's been almost a week now of darker evenings and candlelight, but I'm still in shirt sleeves working in the studio with the doors flung open.

I'm making the most of this seasonal pause. Enjoying the moment. Finding the magic.

It's a bit like the slow and steady climb of a rollercoaster... slow slow slow and then the inevitable plunge into winter ✨️

I've just flowered our last wedding of the season, so it seemed the perfect time to look back on a few of my favourite floral hauls from 2026.

Maybe I should start a game of "match the haul to the wedding." I think that would be great fun and maybe not quite as easy as you'd imagine!

If you make it to the last slide, you'll be rewarded with possibly one of the most gorgeous sweetpea varieties to come from Holland this year. Although the British grown sweetpeas with their vines and spiralled tendrils will always have my ❤️

The first look (of sorts!)

A truly special moment unexpectedly captured and very kindly shared by wonderful Lizzie Reels of Content Luxury Wedding & Event Content Creators 🤍

Saskia had her heart set on a petite bouquet inspired by one she'd seen filled with delicate lily of the valley. My seasonal take included nerine, hellebore, a beautifully small romantic garden rose, and tiny sprigs of myrtle cut from the garden of a special family friend 🌿

For me, this is always such a treasured part of the wedding morning.

Let's be honest, I love them all, but what really gets my heart racing is time spent selecting and curating each and every flower and creating a colour palette that will work perfectly just for you in that one moment in time 🤍

And so it begins!

Saturday 14th November - Winter at the Glasshouse Spring Gardens Nursery with Rustic furniture & homewares, decorative antiques | Sarah ✨️

Saturday 21st & Sunday 22nd November - Designer Maker Fair Charleston Firle. As well as hosting our own stand, Caroline Towl and I will be hosting wreath making workshops across the weekend! ✨️

Saturday 28th November - The Homegrown Winter Making Market at Ardingly showground with the_homegrown_market_ V excited to be joining forces with Laura to bring you The Big Wreath Make! ✨️

Saturday 5th December - Caroline and I will be hosting one, possibly two wonderful wreath making workshops here at the farm F L I N T S P A C E (DM me for all the deets) ✨️

I'm slightly in denial we're in October already, but now our natural rhythm has slowed and I look back on all the wonderful weddings we've had the absolute pleasure of working on over the summer it's clear where the time has gone!

We still have weddings to flower and then a calendar filled with some beautiful winter offerings, fairs, and workshops. More about those soon ✨️

I may be biased, but I truly believe we have the most gorgeous churches here in Sussex. Here is St Mary's, Newick illustrating my point beautifully with its incredible tiled nave and stained glass window.

I feel very lucky indeed to have flowered this beautiful space twice now. Our September meadow installation was such a joy to create for S & J a few weeks ago, filled with grasses, hydrangeas, garden roses, anemones, nerine, cosmos & myrtle 🤍

Here's hoping we're fortunate enough to be invited back a third time ✨️
