It is rarely the hide itself that peels, but rather the artificial plastic top-coat that fails over time.

- Moisture: Regularly apply leather-specific conditioners to prevent dryness and brittleness.
- Environment: Protect items from direct sunlight and heat to avoid fading and cracking.
- Maintenance: Use only mild, manufacturer-recommended cleaners rather than harsh chemicals or excessive water.
- Handling: Minimize physical abrasion by using protective covers and avoiding contact with sharp objects.
