Alliem Art: Sustainable Creations, Canal Side Living
Welcome to Alliem Art! We are Ali and Lou—two artists, a combined vision, and the inspiration behind our name (yes, Alliem is an anagram of our two names!). We are not your typical artists; we live and work on our narrowboats, navigating the beautiful canals of the UK. Currently, we’re moored up in Wolverhampton, dedicating time to a vital comm
unity project, Urban Moorings CIC, in partnership with the Canal and River Trust and the City Council. We believe deeply in supporting our local community, just as we believe in giving materials a second chance. From Canvas Workshop to Art Studio
By day, we run HM Canvases, creating high-quality canvases, panels, and tondos for artists across the country. By night—and in every spare moment—we turn the essential waste from that business into our own unique artwork. Our mission is simple: sustainability meets high-quality design. Every piece of art you see here is crafted from the beautiful, high-grade wood remnants that would otherwise be discarded. By repurposing this material, we ensure high quality while promoting an eco-friendly approach to art making. This page is dedicated entirely to the resulting artwork from this salvage mission. Meet the Makers and Their Contrasting Styles
The heart of Alliem Art lies in the fascinating contrast between our two creative approaches:
Ali: Engineered Precision
Ali brings the disciplined mind of an engineer to the art world. With a background in 3D modeling and precision cutting, she utilizes CNC machinery to translate her inspirations into striking, architecturally sound wood art. Ali is deeply influenced by the structured beauty of Bauhaus and the clean, geometric discipline of Mondrian. She focuses on line, dimension, and engineered elegance, creating intricate Intarsia (wooden mosaics), detailed Bandsaw Boxes, and striking Animal Sculptures. Lou: Atmospheric Creativity
Lou offers a tactile, atmospheric balance to the work. As a traditional artist, she excels in Oil, Acrylic, and Pastel, capturing mood and depth in her landscapes and semi-abstract paintings. Lou’s style favors dramatic sophistication, drawing inspiration from the elegant patterns of Art Deco, the multiple perspectives of Cubism, and the high contrast and shadow of Film Noir. She also employs classic woodturning techniques, crafting smooth, elegant bowls and ornaments that imbue salvaged material with a painterly and sophisticated touch. Whether you're looking for sharp, modern forms or atmospheric, tactile paintings, you’ll find a piece of art with a meaningful story at Alliem Art. Thank you for supporting our creative journey and our mission to turn scrap into treasure!
