Winchcombe Pottery

Winchcombe Pottery Traditional Wood Fired Stoneware Pottery We are at the intersection of Broadway Road Winchcombe and Becketts Lane Greet. Castleways busses also run to Greet.

If driving, the Broadway Road is the best but there is a footpath from Winchcombe along the Evesham Road, past Winchcombe GWR station and right, opposite The Harvest Home Pub down Becketts Lane to the very bottom. Winchcombe Pottery is situated in one of the most attractive parts of the England, one mile out of the ancient town of Winchcombe on the Broadway Road. Nine miles from the famous Spa tow

n of Cheltenham and about the same distance from Tewkesbury, Evesham, Stow on the Wold and Northleach and only six miles from Broadway it really is in the heart of the Cotswolds. Established in 1926 on the site of a pottery dating back to the early 1800's makes it one of the longest running craft potteries in the country making some of the finest and most practical domestic pottery in the world.

A hello from the team.

When you see a Winchcombe Pottery pot, either here on social media, on our website or in our shop, this is where it came from.
The ethos at Winchcombe has always been about the whole, about a team and a mission, not about the individual makers. This was the vision of Michael Cardew and, in turn, Ray Finch.
We honour these values by continuing to work as a team, across all parts of the making process, as a single unit.

In this, its centenary year, the team at Winchcombe are (left to right) Flynn Paget Wall-Collins, Katrin Maier and George Melton.

As we work through the pots that came out of our firing last week, we're reflecting on the results and making plans for the next firing already. This small storage jar came out particularly nicely having had a good blasting of ash to one side.

We are looking ahead now to our open day on the 27th of this month and will share some details and a flyer here soon. We hope many of you will be able to join us here.

We've been doing some very warm and sweaty packing this week getting ready for Friday's firing. There have been kiln repairs, ice lollies, visits from friends new and old and even a birthday.
We have a day of cleaning and tidying tomorrow before hopefully cooler weather on Friday in time for the firing.

A reminder that you can see all the details for upcoming centenary related events in our bio.
