Investigated a fridge-freezer today that was repeatedly tripping the consumer unit. After testing the appliance on in a different socket to rule out any home wiring issues, we confirmed the fault originated within the unit itself. Inspecting the condenser revealed an internal short circuit caused by component failure. Given the age of the appliance, I advised the customer against a repair because the cost of parts and labor would exceed the price of a replacement unit.
